Agar contaminated?
    #26586047 - 04/08/20 10:02 AM (3 years, 9 months ago)

Please help. This is my last agar dish. The others were DEFINITELY contaminated. Is this agar contaminated with cob web? The first pic is a week or so before the others. the last two pics are from the side trying to show the upward growth. Thats the part that makes me think cobweb. Plz give any info or let me know what you see. Thanks a bunch!

Looks like mycelium growing at the edge but you need another plate
so you can take a small rice sized cut of a fiber at that edge to
transfer and see if it's clean. Maybe check out a no poor easy agar
tek in the Everything you need to know link 👇

Agar is typically contaminated. The purpose of it is to move a tiny clean piece to a new agar plate to clean it up. This should be repeated as many times as necessary. That said, the plate was looking good and ready for transfers to a new plate a week ago, now it's an overgrown mess, but still salvageable. You need to make transfers to a new plate. As said, you need to study a no-pour agar Tek.

I have about 5 agar clean plates to transfer to. Am i still able to use this in a spawn jar? Or do i have to transfer and regrow? Just wondering if its possible, i still plan to transfer to new agar but wondering if this is unusable now period.

I'd highly recommend doing a few transfers. But you can also throw it in a jar and see what happens. It's still likely you'll succeed, but don't get disappointed if it ends up contaminated.
