I caught something pretty bad in December. But to your point we never saw the deaths. So I'm guessing it wasn't corona.

No one is safe, unless you’re a nurse/doctor. I’m thinking about going to work at a hospital, but they don’t even let those workers go home. They put you up in a hotel, most of which is used to house infected patients. I’d gladly work the double-shifts, nights, w.e., but I’ll go crazy being indoors for what could be months. Plus, I’d probably get COVID and I hear being a smoker increases risk of complications.
I hope Trump flips out and orders everything to reopen. Otherwise, idk how we’ll make it... Yes, I know more people would die, but I’m not exactly in the position to feel guilty about it.
When you say "No one is safe, unless you're a nurse/doctor", I'm assuming you mean safe from unemployment. Most of the people I know are working; 3 are nurses. Get a job at Amazon. I'm picking up another 11 hour extra shift next Friday for $400 gross. If you want something easier, I'm seeing help wanted signs a lot at groceries and other food places that are open.

I’m still not able to even reach the NY unemployment line. It just goes to a “due to high volume of calls...call back at a later time” message.
NYC could have been home to an Amazon HQ, but nooooo, we just HAD to be the freedom warriors who are more worried about the environment than unemployment. The sad part is, I’m only half-joking...
I tried to dust off my copywriting chops, but it turns out I’m late to the party. Demand for freelancers took a nosedive and, at 3c/word, there’s no way to make a living out of it anymore.
The $2400 we got from Unvle Sam will get us through April. If I don’t find something by then, it’s ski-mask o’clock, yo. ...jk, I’m not much of a gangster will prolly go back to the grease scene though...meth is recession-proof.

Jayapal Proposes Layoff Prevention Plan as the Fed Expands Corporate Aid With No Employment Strings
Quote:
We could avoid a return to Great Depression-era unemployment rates if we follow European models and tie business assistance to preserving jobs.
Under Jayapal’s Paycheck Guarantee Act, companies that are either completely shut down or significantly harmed by the coronavirus crisis could receive federal support for 100 percent of wages for workers earning salaries up to $100,000. The proposal would provide this assistance for three months, with possible monthly extensions.
This would be a win-win for workers and employers. Workers would continue to receive their pay and employer-sponsored health benefits. Once the economic recovery kicks in, employers would avoid the costs associated with recruiting and training new employees.
Bernie's now on board with this:
'Congress Must Cover Paychecks of Every US Worker,' Says Sanders as Laid-Off Americans Struggle to Obtain Benefits "Our job now is to join the rest of the industrialized world and pass the Paycheck Security Act."
Quote:
A furloughed German worker retains 90-100% of his salary, while his American counterpart is struggling to obtain unemployment benefits. Unacceptable," Sanders tweeted
Why can't the US be like the rest of the world? Because our congress is bought by Wall St.
I say it's time to vote out anyone who's not a progressive - whether Democrat or Republican.
