I'm thinking its got bacteria in it. but I just started a 5 lb grain bag of LM so I don't know. I started the bag from an agar wedge 5 days ago and it was about 1/2 way colonized. It did not look that great to be honest but again it's my 1st grow of LM so we will see. I did give it a sniff and it did not smell bad, so I will hope for the best.

11 days I would think it should have more growth than that. Again I would guess bacteria. I know bacteria will cause oysters to want to fruit in the bag before full colonization. Because they try to fruit and drop spores before they are overrun by bacteria.

LM is thin and wispy may not know its even there for a longish time.

Lol yeah the lions mane is fruiting, the others are colonizing pretty well, just transferred spawn to whole oats yesterday to see how they do.

The growth on the whole oats seems to be faster than on wbs so I’m liking it so far.

I am sure your birdseed was not hydrated properly. I do a 50/50 whole oats/millet or birdseed their the same thing. I used this tek for the first time and my spawn finished in 6 days from an agar wedge. I am sure it would be even faster with G2G...

It seemed good to me but who knows, I think I’ll stick with oats as they are easier so far and cheaper

You have to understand that once you spawn you will have fewer inoculation points using whole oats. Which will slow down the colonization of your sub bags. It is not a big deal but I just thought you might want to know that.

That makes sense, not too big of a deal to me right now, maybe in the future though.

So my rye bags are fully colonized and I’m going to be transferring the spawn to my wood pellets (going to pressure cook them today) how much spawn per 5 lbs of hydrated wood pellets is a good ratio?

Lol I let the lions mane grow and it’s been interesting to watch, so I don’t know if it was comtaminated or just wanted to fruit in the jar

That is fruiting in the jar. I know nothing about lions mane but that is definitely fruiting!!Quote:

I would colonize the wood inside in a tote. Once the wood is colonized then place it outside. For a 5 lb bag of sawdust, I use 4 oz's of spawn. but wood chips are going to be harder to colonize so I would use something like 20 oz's or more per 5 lbs.

I think I’m going to colonize 5lb blocks and put them into my humidity chamber.

That looks like a bit much!
Others might have a different opinion, but I'd tone down the blower a bit.

I have been asking him what type of pre-filter he is using. I bet it is cheap and basically nonexistent.
OP Take a pic of your pre-filter and post it here.

LOL, not my intention. I just think if you put a higher Merv rating filter in. You will cut down on how much air you are getting from your HEPA filter. It will also protect the HEPA better.
