If that filter idea works like a bong I don't think it will work very well.
A bong cools the smoke but most of it passes right through. Spores and smoke particles aren't much different in size.
Am I missing something?

heh.. I was worried about that part of the bong aspect as I typed pointing out the corollary. But I am also thinking that spores will act differently than smoke passing through the water. Could also do a double pull through the water for extra cleaning. He is only growing on a hobby level and not commercially so I don't think there will be as many growing at once to need to clean boat loads of air in comparison. But we won't know until someone tries this concept and posts results. I have a window and vent for both my grow areas so I don't have the problem and need to try it out.

The difference here is you have two different animals. One is a solid the other is a vapor. The solid should get wet and be weighted down and hopefully stick to the water. But yea you are the guinea pig. You can always just grow sporeless oyster if you want some I have them. Be safe and wear a mask until you know what is going on or you could look like this...

I made that pic when someone asked about growing mushrooms on alfalfa. I told them I got a really small flush and put that pic in. You have to have a few years on you to understand that pic.

Ok, I misspoke you are still young. Your parents must have watched the little rascals while you were around. I got 18 years on you and that show was old when I watched it.

Oh, I forgot they made a movie. I was talking about the original series. Which was in the mid 50's. It is older than I thought.

The water should trap any spores.

That's an interesting concept, but has anyone ever tried it? Low-rpm blowers for growrooms or the computer-type ones usually have a static pressure of the order of millimetres. Which means putting the duct into a bucket of water will pretty much choke the fan completely, I guess? Unless you only submerge it a few mm.

The fan he has should at least blow through the water. This is where trial and error come into play. I would put a float valve on the bucket to keep the water level the same all the time. I am sure he does not have access to water in that room so I would do this...

bulkheads to connect the two buckets are about a dollar to make yourself. So don't waste your money buying them.

I actually do have access to water but my wife will kill me if I'm running hoses everywhere.

Don't run a hose get a float valve that fits an icemaker fill hose (1/4 In.) and just tap into the water supply with what comes in the icemaker kit...
depending on what you have in your house one of these should work...
https://www.amazon.com/iSpring-ICEK-Connection-Installation-Reverse/dp/B008H71Q4C/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=ice+maker+water+fill+kit&qid=1586547748&s=industrial&sr=1-1
Or this
https://www.lowes.com/pd/EASTMAN-15-ft-L-1-4-in-OD-Inlet-x-1-4-in-Outlet-Copper-Ice-Maker-Installation-Kit/3197163
test it first and make sure you get the desired results from the water trap. Before you mess with running a water line.

Ok, so that fan only has 0.0261068 PSI which I doubt is enough for the water trap. Can you install a dryer vent on the house? That is how I exhast my room out of the house.

I have a dryer vent in the room I could maybe hook into potentially, not sure if that would be good though.
