Why and when do you take shrooms?

Some people use it kill time or just have some pleasure/fun, some people to 'heal' psychological issues, some others to enter philosophical or unknown realms (etherical, metaphysical), others to get through an emotional jam... What's your reason behind it? (this can include other drugs usage)

I have no idea but I can't stop, when I take a break it becomes clear that mushrooms belong in my life.

I take them for a variety of reasons. I got over being very picky about the “recreational vs. spiritual use” thing a long time ago, probably after my 10th trip or so... initially was caught up on the transcendent and spiritual aspects, took some time to realize the simple beauty of a recreational trip.
With that said, I prefer reasonable dosages in good locations with a positive attitude. As long as those things are in order, I don’t bother myself with wether I am having a spiritual or recreational trip.

I imagine, for most people, it’s a combination of all of those things (even if they don’t know it). We may have a primary goal in mind but I feel that the reason most of us do mushrooms is precisely because it checks off all of those boxes (either all at once or a combination of one or more during a particular trip). And with enough trips, we end up experiencing all of those things at one point or another (as well as the negative counterparts like fear, confusion, discomfort, etc).
Ultimately, I started taking them because my first experience helped me work through trauma. I continue them with that goal in mind but, also because they are a wonder I want to explore.
And in regards to the “when”, I take them, at least, every month if smaller doses and every few months if larger doses. This ensures me time to attempt to integrate my experience.

I like to microdose pretty often
once every few months I like to have a proper trip (2-3g) and I always go for a walk in the woods when I do that. Tripping in the city is a recipe for disaster for me and staying indoors is usually close to being unbearable

Started taking them for fun - and quickly learned on how much of a learning tool they actually are. Now, I take them in a little aspect of both. I take then on my hikes.. and or doing fun things outside in nature on a nice sunny day. Really helps you cherish the memories you're making with friends or yourself.
Then, I have the trips by myself, alone, in my bed.. where things get really deep and I work on things within (kind of have no choice). With some good music, and I'm usually in for a good time by myself. Ride that wave throughout the night.
