The Asante Submarine emerged to take in some fresh provisions from food delivery (safer option than getting it yourself). If you are still gimped by a bike accident (but on steroids ) its rather nice having a young dude show up at your door with a pull-in trolley stacked to his chin with crates of food, straight from the truck I deliberately chose early morning delivery as they'd be fully stocked and basically move my large order straight from the supply truck to the delivery truck, so that they ordered my order in surplus so that the store would be none the emptier - and the delivery dude had only been in contact with a couple customers to limit exposure.
Box of 30 eggs, 3 lbs of butter, pound packs of fresh mixed soup veggies for freezing, quark, milk, applesauce portions, tangerines, freezable bread, all the goodies that make it nice and I managed to fill up an entire 31 liter vat with 25lbs of oatmeal for all my congealing needs
I wanted to reload freezer, fridge and cupboards to full capacity NOW because I expect shit getting real where I live in the coming couple months.
Its an exponential curve. The known cases are a fraction of the number of actual cases. | Quasi-lockdown works well so far but I want to hopefully see it peak and die down a bit while I'm safe inside, recovering from my bike crash injuries.
I learned my lesson. Social isolation for me.
Well, Submarine Asante took in provisions, time to submerge for 1-2 months!

Yeah we're lucky we aren't so densely populated as many places. Still gonna be a long while before we can open our borders again even if we do knock it out.
For a country which has tourism and foreign education as major industries as well as depending on international workers that really leaves us in the shit, even if we aren't dying.

Everyone in the US seems to like to blame Trump for everything good and bad. For people from other countries it's quite comedic. Orange man of Godly powers.

So, is anyone else concerned that the US is printing money like a kid trying to print their report 10 minutes before school starts? I'm no economics expert by any means at all, but printing dollars as fast as that machine will go seems like it's probably not a great idea.

In a period where we have the highest global debt in history? Yeah I'd say it's a bad idea. This problem will inevitably get to a point where the solution is a default or going to war because it's profitable and a shrinking economy requires a shrinking population.

Maybe China will wipe out what we owe them since their lies and cover up in the beginning of this pandemic has potentially already caused four 9/11's worth of deaths here so far, with many more to follow.
But yea, the future might be pretty bleak.

It's only concerning if they give all the money to corps. If they give it to people, it would be a massive redistribution of wealth to offset the last 50 years of all gains going to the top 0.1%. Consider the fact that inflation is essentially the siphoning off of value from existing money in order that new money can have value.

It sucks in Montreal. So many are not respecting the stay-at-home orders, in the canadian coronavirus hotspot city of Montreal.
It's so damn sunny and beautiful outside, it is very tempting.
I don't know if others here have experienced covid19 news exhaustion ?
I don't read the news nearly as much. It's too much and never stops.

I feel like I have been on corona news high alert since early-Feb when I started following this thread and it's been exhausting.
It used to be that I would refresh my various sources, hoping for any new information and every now and then there would be a credible article/study that popped up and I would devour it voraciously but now it's just a fucking non stop firehose in the face and 99% of it is negative and I can't do it anymore, so I have increasingly begun to ignore it and limit my intake to this thread alone.
I'm inside, I'm doing my part. And I hope everybody is and although I know they're not, that's not something I can control.

Soooo, is there and unofficial I've had it?
No, I do not/have not watched excessive news stories to the point where I'm mentally scarred. I did some yard work yesterday, and I'll finish it today. Then I'm going on a bicycle trail ride on my bicycle. I'll probably get a little high on some weed before I go. I stay off the streets when riding. Denver has amazing bike trails.

You could try checking out the subreddit for people who are positive/have family and friends who are positive. COVID19positive
There's not a whole lot to get out of it, at this point, but if you're curious about reading through people's experiences then it might be worth a gander.

Thank you for that PB. I need to keep my distance from it as much as possible. Luckily no one I know has it nor any of my family. I listen to NPR snippets in the morning on the way to work. I occasionally read MSN stories or links to other ones. These threads in here link me to some good stuff too.

Another story of a recovering covid patient just dropping dead out of the blue
Quote:
Hi there. Wanted to give a positive update but also a solemn update. Positive first since it’s shorter. I was confirmed positive with no know sick contacts 15 days ago. I am finally symptom free and able to run a little without shortness of breath, also seems I self isolated soon enough and well enough that my asthmatic bf whom I live with didn’t catch it or showed no symptoms. The sad news. My uncle who was confirmed positive right at one month ago who required hospitalization but not vent or life support had seemed to make a full recovery. This morning at 3am his gf called 911 as he fell to the ground unable to talk. No history of high blood pressure or stroke in family. Scans showed catastrophic stroke and he has been declared brain dead. Speaking with physicians it appears this is not the first case of COVID pt with thrombotic issue and they believe it is correlated. He is in a different state than my entire family, our state and his with stay at home orders. Unclear at this time how to handle a funeral or his estate or anything with that in place. He also wanted to be an organ donor but looking at UNOS website appears they may be declining covid positive organs. Idk where or what to do. Edit: uncle is 61 medical hx only slightly overweight. Me: 28 medical hx: likes cheese fries more than most. 72 commentssharesavehidereport

This guy is a major douche but I have to admit that the explanation for why ventilating covid19 patients doesnt work sounds plausible. I started hearing whispers that the real pathology involves inability of heme to function several weeks ago but this article lays out a very plausible explanation
I suspect a lot of docs already know this. I have heard docs say that patients show strong temporary recovery after dialysis but that is not a feasible treatment option
