People want to act like there's some kind of exacting science behind growing cubes and they're special because they got a canopy. Get the fuck outta here. They grow like weeds. Any idiot can do it. I'm the perfect example 🤪

Whereas, you may have to prep then pasteurize the plop comparatively. I do throw in a hint of dung in my grows here and there. I think most people use coir these days because it’s easy. It’s one less step. And boil prepping coir is also an outdated method.
what is the current method for coir prep?

I think most people use the bucket method. Some people just hydrate it and use it tho.

This is proof of the power of horse poo:

Last week I buried in Hpoo a "spent" sub from my first grow (a 12" x 12" casserole dish) that I started on Jan 7. It was shriveled and shrunk and just plain pathetic looking. I watered it a couple times due to very dry weather. It rained Sunday and Monday, so this morning I took a look before work. Making some prints from that bad boy... uh girl... uh hermaphroditic creature.

Poop is made from grass and feed. Basically grain and straw. But it's been digested. They love the shit. I actually just recently spawned some tubs and didn't pasteurize for longer than 15 min once the water reached 160-170 I steeped the shit for 25 min in those temp's. So far so good. If I can get coir I'd use it instead of straw. I prefer coir but can't get it. I'm an expat in Peru. Coir is God straw is nice but it doesn't work like coir. The poo I feel is a supplement. I use leftover shit straw tea when I prep my grains. I use whole wheat berry. Pooooooo

Well growing up in Texas with cow fields everywhere, they sure like growing on cow pies. I’ve picked maybe a thousand pounds fresh in the time I was picking growing up. Midland texas had 10 inch diameter caps. Fucking insane. And those sent me on an Alice in wonderland ride. Wow. Probably one of the most intense trips I’ve had. Even more so than ape and pans.

Eat - you know that’s just genetics and set and setting
Ether way, cubes do not require manure. And I’ll stick to Damion5050’s bucket tek.

I do know they don’t require manure but they naturally grow in it. I use coir myself minus the boil. With a little verm. I love both.
I used to grow off grass and coir 50/50 for a good ten years. It’s probably my favorite substrate. I also tried yesterdays mews pelleted cat litter newspaper.

And yeast naturally comes from the skins of grapes but it does a better job growing in beer than wine.

I’ve found cubes and pans side by side in horse poop out in fields in northwest Florida.
@ago. Heat water for five minutes. Dump over brick. It will expand and cool in 30 minutes. Mix and spawn. Tested clones side by side with both and yield is the same. colonization speed is slightly faster somehow.

This is my recent experiment tray. I'm growing in conditions I'm not used to. I feel I have to change something somewhere, the veils broke to soon IMO. Idk I also have another thread open talking about where I'm at. Just finished soaking the sub for an hour letting it dry rn. The "flush" it gave me before was one mushroom. This is the "second" flush. Short and early to break. Also wackky cold temps

This is just coir. Maybe verm. But coir. Dont even boil water anymore.

Another.
Again
Couple more.
So that's good enough and easier to play with. Idk if I'll ever use doodoo. Why, ya know.

I definitely get bigger fruits from the same clones on manure
The 295g fruit in my sig came off a 3495g flush in a 66qt tub of hpoo/straw/coir
I usually use coir these days tho, for ease

I'm just gonna say. I'm so tired of fucking with coir. It is easy and works really well. But what the hell I'm tired of buying it.
I want to do a grow from WBS and bullshit in my backyard. It's Coivd 19 people.
No more iso, no more coir. All we need is a good culture and some grains.
Who can grow the most minimalist grow possible. Only use a grain and anything you can find around your house.
