Give me a month. I’ll send you a bucket of “poop.” We’ll see what you can grow off of it. Coir+verm has been proven to work with as little nutrients as the substrate provides.

Im pretty sure they love it as long as there's no competitors. They get to live a full and healthy life, what more do they care?

Are you trying to propagate a strain/variety, or actually grow? I dump all my “spent substrate” at a buddy’s house that gets fruits and continues to in other spots.

I rarely run isolates. I just get good growth on agar and transfer a few times for a clean culture. If I was going for an isolate, I’d start from a clone But that’s me. I don’t like flying blind.

So I was an avid dung grower for years and years. Love horsee plop the best. It’s the perfect substrate. But coir/verm is too easy and doesn’t need pasteurization or much heat treatment other than to expand the brick. You can’t beat being able to spawn a substrate 30 minutes after it’s been prepped. Whereas, you may have to prep then pasteurize the plop comparatively. I do throw in a hint of dung in my grows here and there. I think most people use coir these days because it’s easy. It’s one less step. And boil prepping coir is also an outdated method.

What's the current state of the art?
I'm back after a minute gone and trying to find my feet again - most recent I could find was Stro's tek with the insulated cooler.

Ive had varied success using coir/verm for cubes. Mostly comes does down to genetics. I recently acquired an unlimited free supply of equine manure. Can't wait to see what the difference is going to be. I also pasterurized for 60-90 minutes. Is this adequate or should I go longer using a 30/30 manure/coir/ with vermiculite/gypsum mix?

If you've have varied success with coir/verm then your spawn was bad or your coir prep was poor. I doubt your moving to poo will be more fruitful.

Cubensis probably more of a grass and grain loving species than a "manure" loving species. What is manure made from after all??
