Sterilizing Plastic Petri dishes(I know it's bad but I cannot resupply)

So due to recent world events I cannot resupply petri dishes anytime soon. I know it is standard to just throw them out but I need to work with what I have. After searching I found some old posts that involve bleach soak and iso wash. Any other more updated methods or teks people have had success with?

I recently tried this just to see.
I dumped the old half dry agar out sprayed the dish down with iso let it sit for a minute then drained it out and let it air dry for a couple mins.
Then I poured a stack of plates and did that one last to put on top and catch condensation.
I let it sit for two weeks before using it, works fine.
That’s only one dish one time though so idk how reliable it is. Seems like it should be pretty easy to pull off especially if the old agar kept the plate covered and never contaminated.

Just FYI you can use snack size zip locks in a pinch.

I was thinking of doing this but with hydrogen peroxide. I figured if any remained, it could help prevent contamination when doing myc transfers. Glad to see you had good results with iso.

You can also use the little tiny square Tupperware things and do a No Pour.

I did the diluted bleach soak then iso wash. Out of 20 only 3 have picked up a contam so call that a win!(also only my 3rd time pouring plates so that could be all me) I do have a bunch of Pasty plates but I am outside the US and those may not be available soon...planning for the long haul here.
