You can definitely use the fan dry / desiccant method if you have to. I made a bag out of screen material, and I’ve used laundry bags with all the holes in them. Keep constant fan air for 3 days and then store in a Tupperware with a cup full of desiccant in one corner. I have kept mushrooms for 5 years this way with no problems, as long as you check and change the desiccant every year or so.
But the dehydrator is so much better lol. If you can’t get one in time for your harvest though the fan or possibly the oven (never tried) will work.

It turned gooey on me the first time I tried it because after a day and a half or so I thought the mush were pretty dry but they still had plenty of water hiding in them. That’s why I went to the 3 days of constant air. I don’t remember why I was out a dehydrator at the time. Then I just cut down a styrofoam cup to fit in my Tupperware and filled it up, if it starts to look water logged just replace it with a new cup full.
But I’d definitely keep desiccant with your stored fruits even with a dehydrator, if you’ll be keeping them any decent length of time.

Lol I feel ya, it’s a thousand times easier and for anyone that plans on doing more than a grow a year you should get one. And like mentioned earlier you can use the dehydrator for all kinds of other cool stuff

ya and you can also stand over them and fart on them and eventually they will start to dry but it dont make it a good idea. look do whatever ya want im simply just stating that if hes got 2 weeks that should b more than enough time to get a dehydrator and do it the rite way to start with. a dehydrator and a pressure cooker are the most useful and important tools of any cultivators toolbox.

I understand that you are vehemently against this technique, although you don't explain why. This is the method first introduced in the PF Tek, and I know that it is old technology but if you don't happen to have a food dehydrator, this method is cheap, readily available, and it works.

I was under the impression that this forum was supposed to be about helping each other. I try to do that. I don't know you at all, but from the posts that I have read from you to me have all been very negative. That is not very helpful.

Let me say this again...

TheStallionMang said: 170F in the oven on a cookie sheet until cracker dry.
A dehydrator would be better but until then, the oven will keep them from degrading from staying moist too long.
Keep them in a sealed jar after that preferably with a desiccant
THE OVEN TEMP OF 170F WON'T HURT THEM ONE FUCKING BIT!
OP says 2nd hand stores are closed and delivery of a dehydrator would take over a month. Honestly, I wouldn't waste money on a new one at this point and stay off reddit, that place is garbage for shroom info
IF YOU CAN BOIL SHROOMS (AT 212F) TO MAKE TEA YOU SURE AS FUCK CAN HEAT THEM TO 170F IN THE OVEN
...sorry for yelling, I'm gonna go have my first cigarette of the day now...

The original post said that he was afraid that he couldn't get a dehydrator in time for drying his produce, and I said "In an emergency" you can..... So a food dehydrator is the best way to get them cracker dry, but it's not the only way. As far as your negativity is concerned I would ask you to review the comments that you made in my posts about the All-in-one bag experiment where you promised that it was doomed to failure. You were wrong on that one too.

Oh, Yeah that is a dinner plate. It's not done yet.
I apologize to the original poster for hijacking the thread and I return it to him.

Ok everyone, let's calm down. I think people are starting to get real tense with everyone being shut in and worried and watching the death all over the world.
I see it in my daughters and wife. Several times a day things get real tense and people start spouting off and being shitty. Let's all make an effort to exude extra positivity, helpfulness, and understanding. Maybe, just maybe, we can emerge from this problem a better set of humans than we were

I recently got a fan fed dehumidifier that gets a full 4oz absolutely cracker dry in ~8-10 hours. I set it at 140, but it actually cycles heat on around 120-130 degrees. Totally worth it if you have the time and resources.
Otherwise in the past I laid them out on a box fan on top of mesh screen. Once they were mostly dry there I'd move them to a taped up ol' SGFC filled with the crystal kitty litter and some oven racks. The fan tosses little guys as they dry and getting everything situated without dropping directly onto the dissicant in the chamber bites!
Once I got tired of messing with that I got a harbor freight "66906" dehydrator for a while, don't know where it went since but it worked for small batches. Doesn't seem like they sell them any more, but to run large batches I just set the heat coil on the dissicant in my chamber and ran all the mushies on racks above. Worked a treat for the huge third and later flush shroomies.
