Is This Mycelium? 1

Hi there, total newbie & this is my 1st attempt. I tried growing Cubenis (Cambodian) from spores on agar. Below are some pics of the results. The 1st plate was done 26/03 and the 2nd one 27/03. Signs of growth was evident at around 7 days. Today they are 10 and 9 days old respectively.
The 1st plate looks pretty contam free, assuming it's mycelium that is in fact growing. The growth right in the centre is where I placed the spores by picking up a small clump of them on the scalpel blade and wiping them onto the agar. The outer spot could have been some that fell off the scalpel or it's a contamination - it looks pretty similar to me but what do I know.

The 2nd plate appears to have a dark pinkish brown stain around it. I'm not sure if it's contamination. The agar was made wetter for the 2nd plate after I read spores prefer a wetter agar so not sure if it's because of that.

So what do you think? Sorry for the shitty pics, the camera wants to focus on the lids rather than the agar. It doesn't matter which plate I use as they're both the same variety.
Your best guess would be appreciated as I'm not sure whether to make transfers or begin again
Cheers

Trippy. I think its really-fine mycelium. I don't see that very often.
I recommend a magnifying glass

I've got a big magnifying glass and tried to take a photo through it but didn't work so well.
Forgot to mention the agar is PDY - potato, honey & yeast(dry). I was thinking the same as you. Could it be the agar (too nutrient rich) making it more tomentose?
Another question, when making transfers should segments always be taken from the edge of the growth or can you take them out of the middle also. I'm not going for an isolate, I just want clean mycelium to begin with.
Cheers

Either one is fine, the edge or the middle. You want the most "pure" mycelium you can biopsy
What strain are you growing? Is this your first grow ever?

Yes bud, first grow ever. They are supposed to be Cambodian strain of Cubensis. A mate acquired spore prints on the dark web a long time ago (not sure how long, I gathered a few years) and never did anything with them so gave me one to try out .... so the authenticity is questionable I guess. The print came on foil (double wrapped) inside a plastic baggie with a printed label that said Cambodia.
I bought syringes for the biopsy Tek, so I'll try and get to it tomorrow and make some transfers.
Cheers
