It's wild - there was a larger specimen with nice red colors that disappeared into the rock. I found this boulder more than ten years ago and there were many milksnakes then; still going strong. There were some very large skins in the crevices today as well.

Barely noticed this one - it was "rattling" it's tail at me, but nothing audible.

Took a trip to Vermont to visit a couple of college friends. Been enjoying the scenery as well as the selection of mushrooms and critters.



Eastern newt in its red eft stage (Notophthalmus viridescens) and a wood frog (Lithobates sylvaticus). Fellow conservationists be not alarmed, I rubbed my hands with mud before handling any amphibians. Also found literally the coolest spider I've ever seen, apparently the species is Tetragnatha viridis. The picture is zoomed in and quite out of focus, but the coloration is still visible.
