Eastern Spiny Softshell.  I have two as pets in a 100 gallon tank, they're very playful and bring me a lot of joy.  I don't handle them as someday I'll release them.

:whathesaid: :ilold:

Anyway guys, is it illegal to kill snakes where you live ? Here where I am it is punishable by law. Allegedly they keep rodent population under control or something...
I don't need to kill it, I avoid killing any animal, but I don't really like him this close to my house, so I thought about cuting his head off if he shows up again. He started hising and twisting when I approached him then run away.

Is there some other non violent technique to keep them away ? Someone told me they don't like burnt smell, maybe to put some rag on fire ? Heewwlp

It's non-venomous.  Let them eat rats?

No recent pics of reptiles but I wanted to throw these in here.  I've never seen a green snake in the wild that's my current herping life goal.

Cool thread

I rescued this six footer from almost getting smashed on the road the other day, biggest I've seen since I was a child too. Of course this was while I was out scouting for new mushroom spots to hunt in.

It's a gray rat snake, very common. I find them all the time, just not so damn large!
