Hey Bod, Are the walls of my unmodifed Monotub supposed to dry up? I see condensation on everyone else’s. Room temp is very consistent and the substrate still seems moist. Thank you, new to this!
Top tub is the unmodified Bod tote, and the others are obviously Polyfil. All seem dry on the walls at this point, what do you think?

I've seen him post that it's been weeks and then he used them very fast. If you do it properly all that should happen is they dry up

First time using this tech but I have previous experience with cubes using modified monos and trays inside a SGFC. On 3/5 I spawned 1x 650g brick of coir with 4 quarts of rye berries, split between 2x 20qt gasket lid tubs. I reserved a little of the cooked coir and used it for a 1/4" pseudo casing over the top. They're both PE from a MS syringe. I prepared the coir using Bod's cooler tek and spawned to the bins exactly as the unmodified tub tek says and video shows to. I put the lids on but didn't clamp them. 3/10 I peaked inside and saw some myc starting to poke through the casing layer in both tubs. But at the same time I could see both bins have a very very thin amount of cobweb mold on most of the casing surface. Both bins are easily 70% colonized and moving along quickly. I'm not the type to try and salvage a contaminated bin so should I just dump it and start over or let it go and see what happens? The cobweb layer is so thin and faint I literally can't get a picture of it. Thoughts?
Someone suggested spraying with h2o2 but there seems to be a divide in the mushroom community over whether or not h2o2 even has a place in mycology.
Bodhisatta, care to weigh in?

Bod,
I put a spore syringe to agar. Today o transferred some of the mycelium to fresh agar. I couldn’t find a tek that spelled out exactly what to do so I just made sure to alcohol dip and flame between each cut, I put the piece of clean mycelium/ agar onto the new agar. Does it matter of the mycelium is in contact with the surface of the new agar plate? Also how long should it take before I see mycelium growing onto the new plates? I’m trying to isolate clean mycelium instead of using dirty spore syringes.

As long as the flame came after the alcohol, and you flamed to glowing, you should be good to go.
Doesn't matter how the piece lands, many have their preference.
Growth can be visible from 6-12 hrs

It is usually 1-2 days for me to see growth. Sometimes I transfer so small it takes 3 days.

Hey Bodhisatta, wanted to voice my appreciation for your teks. I'm on my first grow, and my first harvest is upon me. Golden Teachers, exactly 21 days after making the substrate.
I'm hoping to get some insight on how to handle this unmodified tub.
As one may see, it's extremely dense in the center with lots of smaller, less mature fruits around the perimeter. I thought I mixed my 5 quarts of spawn rather evenly with the coir, but perhaps a beginners eye needs more experience. Does something else affect this?
As many caps are opening (overnight last night) and the rest of the tub still need time, how should I go about harvesting? It's very difficult to cut down there into the tub, yet I fear floating the substrate with water too soon will be a large mistake. Should I just snip the caps off the best I can, or is there a smarter way to handle this?

Hey Bod, absolutely love all your content. I've done pretty darn good so far and had some good grows, every time getting better. I'm not one to post a lot without experimenting myself but I have a few questions at this point I think you can help me with!
I'm working on the unmodified tub but the last time I did it I got contams (probably some kind of penicilium or something greenish). I have the exact tub as you and it seemed to be drying out so I had to mist twice a day.
1. What do you think the contam was from? Misting too much or maybe bad spawn (didn't think so but I'm still pretty new at this)? I can tell you for SURE that I didn't have rhizo growth but the jars colonized fast and smelled fine.
2. Also when spawning in the unmodified tub do you start with the lid upside down? My house is 30ish RH and it seemed to be drying out pretty quickly. I was thinking maybe I should have had the gasket side down like normal and just leave it loose during spawning. When I dumped it outside (maybe it will grow!) the bottom looked really great, colonized very nicely so I'm pretty sure I was damn close
Thanks again for everything

1. Probably spawn 2. Gasket side never down. I removed the gaskets from my lids entirely and put them in a closet.

This isnt a tek. It has links to teks that you can use your spore syringe with.

Oh ok I understand, from your understanding which tek would I be using???? I have your agar teks pulled up and everything like oat prep but I was interested in using popcorn because a lot of people I know use that for their grains but I may just go with one of the oats you recommended since I’m still new. I also got a lot of cultivators suggesting that with the syringe I can just drop a bit of spore solution on the agar during inoculation. Is that ok based on what your experience has shown you?
