Does a myc strain (not variety) indicate potential for good or bad pinsets?
    #26576349 - 04/03/20 10:50 PM (3 years, 10 months ago)

So far ive only done multispore grows, i got pretty good with getting really nice pinsets and decent canopys. I cloned a larger fruit and now im in the process of fruiting, getting some pins, larger overall but no where near as dense. Surface conditions are nice still. Just curious if the myc i "isolated" (i know its not an isolate) during the clone is going to determine total quantity of fruits or pins.

you can't tell from looking at mycelium how it's going to perform, some clones are dude some are studs ...test them all and keep the winners

It doesn't matter what i think of you...all that matters is clean spawn

If all other factors are on point (clean spawn, proper bulk hydration, proper surface conditions etc) the culture is going to act in a pretty consistent way.  If all those same factors were in place during a MS run and you got a large mushroom that you clone, chances are you’re going to get larger fruits (not always true) from that culture and being that the fruits are larger, the substrate is going to put out less in quantity.. best to wait til the flush is over and weigh it and make conclusions based on that.  Cultures can really turn around by the time it finishes fruiting.

Sometimes you just get a shitty performing clone too.

I know you can’t tell anything by looking at myc, I just meant the genetics of it. I was curious if my lower pin count was due to something I’m doing wrong all of the sudden or the fact that I’m dealing with a clone and was seeing if the clone could cause less pins , I think you guys answered that though thank you

And to be honest these pins are way bigger than I’ve ever had (maybe because I’ve never had clean spawn until now) but harvesting canopy’s is a pain, if I can get the same weight from bigger fruits than I’m happy lol

Performance like pinset has more to do with skill and conditions than genetics. MS grows routinely do canopies too
