Germ plates to grain?
    #26576678 - 04/04/20 04:30 AM (3 years, 9 months ago)

So I started spores on agar, they germinated and I've done a transfer, working toward getting some nice clean fairly limited genetics, but I'm also looking at those germ plates, which are filling with what looks to me like clean healthy mycelium, and thinking it would make a nice MS grow if I put it in a jar with grain.

Is there a good reason not to do this?  I know that there's a risk of contams hiding in there that is greater than later transfers.  I know the genetics aren't limited so it will be a varied grow.  Anything more serious I should be considering?

My other thought was to let them sit until a pin appears and then clone it but I realized the only good thing I will know about the pin is that it fruits.

Nope other than those two variables you mentioned there's nothing wrong
with it. I do it all the time cause if it is successful it can give
you a tub with a nice variety of clones to chose from throughout the
different flushes.

Put them all to grain and leave one out to pin, what do you have to lose?  Have some fun.
