Anyone finding new skills/hobbies during isolation? * 4
    #26575699 - 04/03/20 05:51 PM (3 years, 10 months ago)

I'm taking up learning how to make furniture and pottery since I have the equipment, and I've gotten really into watching professional tag and arm wrestling, which has inspired me to work a lot more on my grip strength and sprints since I have no excuse to not fully commit to my workout routine. It's not so bad so far

I did some little drawings yesterday. It’s such a great opportunity to spend time on the things you never give enough time to.

I’ve also been doing some meditation and self care that I don’t normally make time for.

The Italian researchers’ findings, published by the INT’s scientific magazine Tumori Journal, show 11.6% of 959 healthy volunteers enrolled in a lung cancer screening trial between September 2019 and March 2020 had developed coronavirus antibodies well before February.

Yeah I just started another grow about 10 days ago. The house was messy the day I prepped my jars and I didn't feel like moving a bunch of stuff and spraying it down etc. so I decided to see if I could get away with not using an SAB or flowhood and just inoculate them and do some agar transfers out in the open air outside, but still with a flame, so far 100% of them are doing well.

I've been coming up with life hacks.

1) dunking an oreo in milk without a cup - put an oreo in your mouth, take a swig from the milk jug, swish it around until it's soggy enough, break it with your tongue and enjoy!

2) while wearing pajama pants, sit far back on the toilet seat and lean forward a little.  You can pee thru the slit in the front without taking your pants down (yes I pee sitting down sometimes cause I'm an old fart who doesn't stand more than he has to)

Also started a grow a couple days ago by prepping agar dishes and getting the old petri dishes out of hibernation.  I wish I would've started 2 weeks ago

Nothing, I have to work.  Doesn't change my life routine by much at all except seeing families and friends a lot less.

Same here. Work and children. Isolation laws will not change that.

I'm taking up mastering Portuguese. I'm fluent in Spanish but really fell in love with Portuguese while in Brazil. They're such similar languages fluency in one means being able to read the other with maybe 70-85% accuracy (same goes for Italian). Pronunciation is another story. That being said, the speed that you pick up the other is mind-boggling. Who knows? Maybe I'm coming out of quarantine speaking Italian as well.
