There is a limit to the amount of value of money. The more you print the less it’s worth.

The value of money changes constantly. Yes, the more you 'print' and put into circulation without adding value along the way, the less it is worth.

But if you take a $5 piece of wood, carve it into a bird, then sell it for $40... you just added $35 to the economy that did not exist before.

That is how wealth is made. You apply various forces to materials and increase their value. Every time the value is increased along the way, the economy is growing.

Jeff grew the global economy to the point that it could spare him his 127B without taking anything out of anyone's pockets.

I keep repeating these same ideas because they are true and all connected.

The economy is not a zero-sum-game.

And Feldman, review where you posted the definition of arbitrary and reread all that and you'll find you are mistaken.

:whathesaid:

It would be absurd to think there was as much wealth, irregardless of its representation in any money, 5,000 years ago.

Wealth is created. The numbers that go along with its representation as a liquidity device, money, so that we can trade is an illusion that doesn't matter. Billion is meaningless.

He is significantly more wealthy by proportion, not sums of cash

https://www.theverge.com/2020/3/11/21175538/amazon-coronavirus-paid-sick-leave-all-employees-relief-fund

Editz - Two weeks paid sick time for even part-time warehouse employees.

If 40% of Amazon employees end up coming down with coronavirus and get paid 15 bucks an hour for 40 hours for two weeks, that's going to cost Amazon around a billion and a half dollars.

I’m pretty sure businesses like that are getting funding from the government to cover the expenses of giving workers PTO due to the Coronavirus.

OMG, how will Amazon ever survive?  It's only taking an end of the world scenario for some of these companies to exhibit a small gesture of compassion. Bottom line, it's too little and too late.

Also, something tells me they have their bought and paid for government officials making sure they're compensated for their expenses.  At the end of the day, it's not going to cost them (shareholders) shit.

They’re allowed to write that off the same way they are with charitable contributions. Guess Amazon is gonna pay $0 in taxes again next year.

Oh, it's going to be great. The government is going to give companies tons of tax breaks, bailouts and debt relief as these very same companies start layoff their employees.

There is no such thing as "free market capitalism" today, we practice socialism for the corporations and that's about it.  This crisis is going to show people how much government is going to benefit The Elite as the peasants are left to survive on their own.

You added 35 to yourself not to the economy. The money already existed.

If I was Jeff benzos I would honestly just take 2 or 3 billion and buy a chunk of land, build a shit ton of tiny houses and start puttin up homeless people. Not even as a favor to them but to the world, like ‘alright no ones gonna do this shit I’ll do it’. All you need to be happy is a wife house and food anyway, seems the high strung are always the ones to make it to the top

That's a low estimate. Half the employees get a shift differential, and by my estimate about 30% aren't doing entry level jobs. There are also 6 seniority raises the first three years.

On the other hand, I don't think 40% will get it. They don't ever want us within 6 feet, but 99% of the time they are keeping us 15 feet apart. They staggered shift starting and ending times and breaks, moved lunch tables, microwaves and time clocks. They closed every other work station, sink and urinal.

Anyone can not show up or leave when they want. People who want to work are getting significant financial incentives. I have a shit job, but I'm going in tomorrow night for an extra 11 hour shift for $400 gross.
