Preparing grains without boiling

I plan to prepare my oats by soaking rather than boiling. I have too many burst oats when boiling, which was probably part of the reason I was loosing 30% of the bags I made.
Approximately How long should I let the oats dry after soaking for 24 hours?

It's really hard to say because the soak doesn't soften them enough to retain the moisture you need for a quick colonization. Also one of the benefits to boiling is the steam evaporation off the outside of the kernal.
How were you boiling grains? I found if you wait until you have a really hard boil and then add them at that point for about 10-15 mins tops. Then steam evaporation and load you will end up with a much cleaner grain.
This picture is a proper boil and a improper boil. I also got drunk and forgot to take them off the fire. They were all mushy but I loaded them and PC'd them anyway just for fun.

So don't boil as long, or at all.
I bring my soaking grain to a point where I see steam and some very slight bubbling, no where near boiling.
Myc will do fine with dryer grains.

so I should only be adding the grains after the water has heated? or add the grains before heating?
That could have been the issue. I always put the grains in the pot first then heat until it boils.
Either way soaking without heating on the stove seems much more time efficient to me. I would rather let them soak for 24 hrs than mess with the stove, especially since I am doing more than a few tubs
I saw a post where somebody mentioned they use hot water to soak then drain it a couple times and refill with more hot water as that will cause them to soak up more water.

Wait till you have a rolling boil and add the grains. The amount of time they boil between adding and straining will determine you hydration.

No Im ok with wheat also. I just dont know where to get it. do feed stores usually carry it? Sure sounds easier does wheat soak up and hold the water easier?

All grains are stupid easy to prep. Learn from your mistakes. Don't repeat. Try again. Take notes

Yeah the wheat I get is from a feed store. Comes super dirty but just rinse good.
This is the tek I use. https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/26326713/fpart/1/vc/1
But BOD’s right it’s all just trial and error. You just gotta go through the learning curve.
