Why do you use weed? 2

So I got into a discussion with my psychologist about why I use drugs, and while I can sort of pinpoint why I use psychedelics, I don't really have a reason for smoking weed other than it feels good and makes me comfortable. It's not a bad thing, but she wanted to discard my using it as a crutch, to be honest the frequency of my use would suggest the same to me, but if it is, I don't know what it's a crutch for, since my biggest issues are social and it doesn't really help with that.
Why do you use cannabis?

I was just an addict when I used, both to the high and secondly I was a denial tobacco user, I mixed tobacco in with all my weed so I found myself smoking like 12 times a day cause I wouldnt touch cigarettes, so I was also just constantly blitzed out all day

I think some psychologists have a major hard on and like to focus on people for smoking pot when there is likely much bigger factors in their life affecting their mental health
Your experience ounds kinda like the first experience I had with a garbage psychologist about 10 years ago.
I smoke pot because it takes the edge off, reduces my anxiety, reduces suicidal thoughts, makes me less angry towards the people around me, helps me get to sleep at night.
Yes, it's probably bad for my lungs, it's not great to consume something all day everyday, whatever. I don't give a fuck.
I also used to drink heavily every day of the year and now I just smoke pot

I mostly use it for sleep. I've had insomnia since I was a kid and when I found pot at around eighteen, it helped more than any sleeping pill I was ever prescribed. I also like its mild psychedelic properties; helps you see the world in a different light (at least for me).

Alone: Synergy with kava, enhancement ov creative thought, and the mild augmentation ov music, reading, and movies. Social: Comedic and contemplative thought value, mild aphrodisia, and the 'bonding' aspect ov smoking itself.

When I smoked I loved it. Made me euphoric and creative. Then as the years went by the magic wore off, it started to cause social anxiety and become a boon. So I stopped.

Yeah, I got that impression a bit from her, but honestly it's something I haven't given a lot of thought to, so I'm going with it, but if this persists much longer or I start to feel like I'm not getting anything out of it, I'll probably end up switching psychologists.
Strange, back when I started it made me have more of a temper, but now that I've calmed down in general it's not really an issue, and while it makes me more sensitive to the good stuff, it also makes me more sensitive to the bad. How do mushrooms work for suicidal thoughts for you? They make them stop almost entirely for a while after a trip for me, I'll still feel like shit, but no suicidal thoughts.

Same here, I seem to have long periods of daily use and then long periods of no use, depending on how sharp I need to be for work or social situations or life in general, since things are kinda chill right now I've been taking edibles almost daily.

Similar for me. Originally I used it for creativity and enhancement of experiences. Later in life it was more out of habit, and it started causing me anxiety. I think the maximum positive benefit is from occasional use rather than just constantly being under the effects. But I find that tricky to manage while I have a supply, more than any other substance.

yeah, I haven't smoked for almost 20 years now. Maybe the odd puff on a joint at a party, but not really. Not like the wake up and reach for the bong stoner I was.

extreme chronic pain otherwise I'm at the mercy of heavy pharmaceuticals that cause way worst brain fog and even more terrible side effects than munchies and drowsiness.
also it really fucking agrees with me
I've gotten all the negative side effects at one point or the other, the paranoia, the extreme anxiety but I know why those things happen and how not to make those things happen. The poison is in the dosage. Also environment, etc. I apply the same rules I apply to psychs to cannabis, depending on where I'm at and what I'm doing defines how my smoke sess goes. The older I've gotten the more responsible I've gotten with my usage.

I use it as a mental strengthening tool. Learning to handle high doses is a great mindfulness accelerator.
Im pretty much panic attack proof at this point.

It dosent matter what kind of weed. Gives me a bunch of crazy motivation. The kind that proves weed can make some a gold medalist.
I never though, ok let's just sit down. Just keeps me going and going.

I smoke outta habit lol If I get 5 days out I can stay dry for awhile, its breaking the ritual that is hard for me that 1st morning not packing a bowl...
but fer real, it adds a bunch of noise to my day that I just zone out too, I am far more productive and able to think critically without it
does that stop the junkie like frequency in which i smoke daily....
I am an ex-heroin user tho, so I assume in my case, the "addiction behavior" is just manifesting in another form with the weed..thank god I can afford this habbit and I dont get between smoking seshes
but yeah, I smoke weed cause I smoked weed yesterday, and the day before and the day before...

I "use" cannabis because it's a good feeling. It makes me happy. (I'm not depressed otherwise). It makes me creative. It enhances movies and concerts. I am an adult and can moderately use it. I might smoke a hit or 2 a night, or I might smoke a 2-5 hits a week. I might not smoke for a month. One 1/4 can last me a month or more. I might go to a dispensary one to two times a year. I like to eat it too. I am not a daily smoker, nor do I smoke concentrates of any kind, no need to for me. I use it to get high. I like to fucking get high whenever I want. No problems here at all with it. I can afford it it. I live in CO. Life is good. I have been smoking on and off for 43 years. It never got in the way of anything, ever. The downside for me: extreme cottonmouth.

I have a hard time sitting down and relaxing. Weed helps with that. It also helps me focus on one task at a time, and thus, can make me more productive depending on the task. That one's a bit of a double edged sword, though, because it can be detrimental and have the opposite effect in the wrong place and time(obviously).
It also makes me see the world a bit differently, and that alone is worth it's weight in gold. Makes me appreciate things more, a walk in the woods, music, sex. Makes the world a prettier place, and makes dinner taste even better. Makes sitting in my hammock, with a book, and a thermos of tea waaay better than it would be ordinarily.
I have a medical card for anxiety, and I do feel like weed does improve my quality of life, in general.
