The fruits of my labor

As a first time grower I have faced a few challenges and lost a few jars, I have finally had my first mushie grow. And this journey has already taught me so much about myself and how to respect the small delicate things in my life. I'm ready to move onto more difficult yet efficient methods of growing using the things I have learned from this grow. I just wanted to share my excitement and my experience with anyone interested.

Nice! Good job. I remember having those feelings back when I started. Still to this day I have a deep spiritual connection with this work. It's woven into my life, and all I want to do is help it grow forever.
I would suggest looking into agar finding a no pour agar tek and you could clone that fruit. Also how to take prints so that you can make your own spore syringes and keep things going.
The best is yet to come!!

Thank you for the kind words! I definitely will save a spore print, I need to find a way to save it long term as buying all of the agar equipment will prove to be quite difficult during this pandemic. Everyone here has been so encouraging and I am ready to learn more about mycology and the secrets it withholds. (And to enjoy the "fruits of my labor")

An experiment I'm going to try soon for taking and preserving a print is using a jar with a synthetic filter disk setup. Spores aren't really sterile, it's just in their nature. But I figured why not eliminate all other variables for contamination. So I'm gonna use a short wide mouth 1/4 pint jar, make a little criss cross stand from metal wire, and put an sfd lid setup on the jar. Then PC for 15mins @15psi. Then I would just open the jar in front of a flowhood, set the cap I'm printing on the little wire stand, and put the lid back on. The spores will drop on the sterile glass below, then in front of the flood hood again, remove the cap, and the stand, and put the lid back on. Now you have spores in a sterile container that can be transferred to agar, or sterile water put into the jar to make a syringe. Sure the spores aren't sterile. But they're the only variable
that isn't. The jar can also be vacuum bag sealed for long term storage in the fridge.

Congrats 5-00! I remember my first pins ever. I was so excited. My first grow was a while back when everything was supposed to be colonized at like 80f. I couldn’t get my incubator to work so I put a space heater in my room and lived in the 80s for like 10 days. When I saw the pins show up I did a little dance.
Keep it going and trying new things. It does kinda suck with what’s going on right now but I just got petris, agar, lme, and all kinds of other goodies from a sponsor of this great website. Normal shipping time.
