I read they are setting up a website, so that even if you got your tax return by paper check, you can register for direct deposit and get your stimulus money quicker

The truck driver who brings the food, the cleaners who risk their lives to kill the virus, the guy who bags groceries, these fucking people deserve something too https://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/economic-aid-package-coronavirus-1.5501037

Those people got to keep working... That's what they got. Paychecks.

So uh, yeah. Just paid rent today, no thanks to these checks.
Many people will not be able to, you know, pay rent.
Talks of going on mortgage and credit card strikes.
Yet, major corporations will have no issues while a majority of small businesses may never reopen.
These checks are a fucking joke.
Lets wave a carrot too far away to reach and lead people along with false senses of hope.

Mortgage and credit strikes aren't realistic past the point of vocalizing the intent. People's need and desire for credit will nearly always outweigh any philosophical desire to punish the creditors bottom line or desire to make a statement about financial infrastructure.
Similar to how stock strikes don't work out, because someone with more capital is more than willing to swipe at the opportunity to get in the same stock being sold off at a low buy-in, and because usually those doing the striking aren't stakeholders.
Interest rates versus expectation to be able to pay off a loan is all that really dictates involvement in the grand scheme. If creditors can't lend, it's because people's needs are met or because the lenders are unwilling to take on the risk in turbulent times.
