Northern California December 2018. I missed my flight to the UK and was stuck home alone for an extra day. I walked out and it was a wet year (famous super bloom in Feb / Mar 2019).
In the front of my house is a steep hill that is terraced (so wet and soggy, generally covered in ivy and in the summer there are a lot of bees and I was told by a bee guy that they are there for the fungus). There a a couple of 150 ft pine trees (I was told this year by a tree guy that they are blue cedars.
I think you could best describe the base as needle mulch. There were thousands.
They looked like the mushrooms of my youth in South Manchester that we harvested from cow fields in November time - what I always thought were 'liberty caps'. small, pointy, darker at the nipple.
I grabbed a bunch, set up a dryer with a fan and a black sheet of filter from an air filter. I left the for 3 weeks and managed to get a flight home for Xmas.
I came back after the holiday and bagged them up in bags of 100.
I mentioned my find to a local know it all from the east coast. She told me that shrooms only grow in cow shit and that I should not touch them.
I forgot all about them.

Questions: 1) Do we reckon they are magic mushrooms - can they grow in these conditions? 2) Would 25 be a reasonable test dose given they are over a year old? 3) Do you think I could replicate the event by following the weather / emulating the rainfall pattern from that year? 4) Are there any special considerations for the taking what was stored in air tight zip locks in cool dark place?

Better to upload the photos here on the website or using another free uploading website then post the links to the pictures not to many on this site will download pictures...
But it doesn't sound like it would be anything you would want to eat based on the description and how old they are though...Welcome to The Shroomery
