Please help folks
    #26572628 - 04/02/20 05:37 AM (3 years, 9 months ago)

On the recommendation of others in a previous post, I have removed my cakes and placed another bag of perlite into my SGFC. I've also covered up some of the holes as I was told I had way too many.

Whilst taking my cakes out I noticed that, on the underside where there's a dip, all of the cakes have a sort of greyish, dare I say, cobwebby look to them.

The aluminium foil they were sitting on had several drops of water also.

I've placed everything back into my SGFC but I would like to know what has the audacity to be growing on my cakes? If it is some sort of contaminant that is.

And what do I do?

I'm on action stations ready to sort this asap. Please help folks!

Looks like bacteria. And your cakes look water-logged. Bacteria isnt a big deal, u can basically wash it off and atill fruit the cakes.

Yeah I'm stepping up my fanning now to keep the chamber flowing.

So should I just wash it off and replace with more verm?

Also, that growth is at the bottom of my cakes, with the bottom sitting on the foil. Should I turn them upside down?

Yeah wash off then replace with dry verm.

Nah, u dont need to flip the cake, unless u want to. Either way, shrooms will pin where they want too.

How often do u mist? Do u mist on a schedule or "as needed"?

I was misting 3 times a day for first 2 days, then moved to 2 mistings a day.

But now I will mist when needed. I'm going to let them dry off much more, then try to mist and fan when needed.

I'm no TC, but if I were you I'd sterilize some jar rings & set them under the cakes so they're not sitting flush on the aluminium. Should help keep them from getting soaked.

Yes, mist only as needed as in if it looks dry or is started to look dry. Do not mist if your SGFC is still wet inside. And dont wait till its completely dried out! Thats also bad. Gotta find that balance between dry and wet, what I call "Moist".
