Germanating seeds.
    #26572520 - 04/02/20 03:16 AM (3 years, 9 months ago)

Does anybody have any tips
For germinating datura
Seeds.
Or the other Solanaceae because
I have been having some real
Problems this year.
I usually put them straight in
The soil.
But this year I have tried growing
Them by putting some paper
Towels at the bottom of a
Tuppaware dish. Putting
The seeds on the paper towels
Spraying them with water
And then putting the lid on and
Placing them in a dark cupboard.
Has anybody had any success doing this method?

The mushrooms are fine.
Give me them with lashings of wine.

I just started some, by putting them outside directly in soil.

It usually take a very long time for them to germinate though.

I've also found that it takes some heat to coax them into sprouting.

I always forget about even planting them, and then by the time it's getting hot and humid outside, I notice that they all just mysteriously sprout!

If I were you, I'd soak them for a couple of days in water, then plant them in soil with a heat mat under them, and some strong light shining on them.

Yeah.
I think this does call for some
Experimenting to find the
Best method. I will tell you
If they sprout.

Start plants in humid
containers for best results
then give light and love.

Why is soil sowing
not viable for you this time?
Too wet or neglect ?

I have a few that have
Sprouted in soil.
But they don’t look healthy.
Maybe it’s just me.
Somebody suggested the
Tuppaware method to me
So I thought I would give
It a shot.

They look ok.

I'd go ahead and gently dig them out, and put them in their own pot

I am keeping them in the
Big pots so I don’t need
To transplant them when they
Grow bigger.
Whereas if I transplanted them
Into smaller pots they would
Need transplanting back into
Bigger pots so it saves all the
Hassle.

Yeah, but you don't want them all growing in the same pot, especially that close to each other.

They will need room to spread.

The sooner you separate them, the better, and easier off you'll be.

Of course, this is just my opinion, and whatever works best for you, go for it

Ft
Go ahead and separate them the best you can so the roots wont become entangled.

Start in small pots and move to big pots or start in big pots and move to big pot.

Yeah, just lightly dig em out with a tablespoon, and you'll get all the roots.

There will be no transplant shock this way
