This COVID-19 situation is wreaking havoc on people that are germaphobes or people afflicted with hypochondria and any kind of OCD.

There is no evidence that food is a major (or minor) source of infection. Furthermore if you eat the virus its not going to cause an infection, it will just be destroyed in your gut. It needs to enter mucus membranes to make you sick, this is most common via the nose and eyes. This means bodily fluid droplets must be flying around in the air, usually from a person coughing or sneezing, for you to get infected. In theory there could be live virus on food, you touch the food, then touch your face and eventually it gets in your eyes or nose, but its not all that likely. Wash your produce and eat your food with utensils and not your hands, and wash your hands before and after eating. https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/prevent-getting-sick/how-covid-spreads.html?CDC_AA_refVal=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.cdc.gov%2Fcoronavirus%2F2019-ncov%2Fprepare%2Ftransmission.html I would not worry about getting the virus from food and I certainly would not limit consumption of produce, which is going to boost your immune system. Unless you are very old or have existing diseases, there is not much likelyhood that your own immune system will fail to beat this virus.

Canned food should be safe due to high temperature sterilization I think. At least the food inside the cans if not the outside. Growing all your own food would be ideal but isn't an option for many. Probably pretty doable for salad materials though.

Just because a tiny amount of the virus can live on a surface for weeks that doesn't mean that it can infect you. There's some debate about whether it living means it can infect. We do know for sure that it's viable for a couple hours at least.
So if it was handled 3 days ago you should be fine.
If it was made today... you should be fine if you wash it. If you have a salad spinner wash the shit out of it, put in the salad spinner, spin the shit out of it, eat some pretty clean produce.

"Salad" is an umbrella term. It's a mixture/combination of different things like vegetables, meats, cheese, beans, fruits, nuts, sauces, etc. These foods will be in cans, bags or in the produce & freezer isles. Maybe be a little more specific?
