Looking forward to seeing the progress. I am just starting my azure and cyan spores on agar right now.. racing the clock to get them going in time to see something this fall.
Theyre usually in the fall/winter here as well in the Sacramento valley/Bay area, but we had a 2/3 week span of lowered temperatures to lows in the 40's and highs in the 60's with some substantial rain that brought some fruiting back to an established patch I discovered in the fall. The fruiting was not large, but there was some descent pinning. Once the temps rose again though, the fruits quickly dried out and turned light brown/quit growing.
Some of the transplanted pins I placed in my home patch continued to grow some before the higher temperatures came. My hope is that they dropped their spores in the new patch and will aid in a better grow for this coming fall.

Ive seen your grow and was super impressed. Any suggestions for me? How much/often do I need to water in the summer? Keep in mind I'm in the valley of california where it can get in the 100's in the summer. I dont have a sprinkler system set up, but I've been trying to do a deep watering every couple of days to keep it moist under the top layer.

It gets mid 90's often and 100 occasionally at my patch. I water every third day, deeply.
probably wouldn't hurt to mulch on top of your chips, to provide heat protection and hold in moisture.

I just threw down another litle layer of chips on top for some extra heat protection and help keep the moisture in. I wonder if some sort of casing layer would be appropriate like some peatmoss or something. My patches are in shaded areas that get little to no direct sunlight.

Some updates. The mycelium I transplanted has spread in to the new bed. Didnt want to dig too much and break up what's growing. The last pic is of a spot that gets a fair amount of sunlight. Think I need to case that spot as the other 2 don't get any sun at all.
Any suggestions on anything else I should do? Make a mycelium LC spray and spray down the chip bed to try to accelerate growth?

After some abnormal may showers I have this mold growing on my peatmoss casing layer. Will this be harmful for my cyan myc growing underneath? On the bright side the rain has brought some good myc growth in my beds.

In my experience, cyans are pretty robust to competitive fungi. I have winecaps growing around them, but the winecaps don't penetrate the cyan bed. Downside of growing outside is you get what you get for competition.

An observation, the area behind the tree that i put a good casing layer on is showing a nice flush where as the area to the left with no casing layer has mycelium growth that I can see, it is not pinning yet and the mycelium isn't as dense.
