BAM! Accident! 2

When you've got it all figured out with the COVID situation..
I fell square off my bike, bounced my head of the pavement, large bleeding bruises in my face and bloody nose, pain and sweling in the knee, possibly broken bones in my hand.
FUCK FUCK FUCK
I had a doctor visit me at home, both of us wearing mouth masks, she wanted to have my hand x-rayed at the hospital, i told her that with my comorbidities and Covid the hospital is the last place i want to be, so we settled on me being a trooper and riding it out for a few days to have either 1) the swelling disappear, in wich case no harm no foul or 2) swelling remains or increases, then an xray must be taken, with possible risk of death.
Fortunately i let myself be shot up for Hepatitis A + B, Diphtheria, Tetanus and Polio 4 years ago so thats a big worry and hassle less.
When you got it all fucking figured out, you fall square on your face on the pavement and may actually have to visit the most pestilent place in town
It hurts like heck.
I stagger like Quasimodo through my house.
I got a fricking mitella from my prep, i conveniently have everything i need.
Still, right now in the hospital willing to take my x-ray, good people are drowning in their own lung fluids on oxygen due to Covid - while their partially infected nurses look on powerless to help them.
I count my blessings that it seems that all i got was this moderate kicking by God and hope that pain is the worst that this misadventure will offer.

That is something that I have considered during this pandemic. High-risk activities are on the backburner, you've got to be extra careful since in a month or two I don't think there will even be decent medical care for non-life threatening injuries.
It's crazy to think that we might be back to setting broken bones and stitching wounds on our own for a while, and hoping we don't get infected wounds.

Damn man that's rough, sorry to hear it.
I was just thinking about something like this the other day, it feels like I'm walking on eggshells, trying to avoid anything possible that could result in a doctors visit, as well as knowing if anyone in my house has to go then we're all exposed
Do you guys have urgent care over there? The ones near me, right now you can pretty much check in online, wait in your car, then head right back to the XRAY when you're ready, pretty much avoiding anyone other than the Xray tech.
Maybe try splinting things in place for now, pretty easy to make homemade ones

If nothing is broken i can handle myself A-OK.
Its a potential hospital visit i dread. I'm prepped to the hilt, including enough naproxen to poison an orphanage
I can handle myself, i just hate to catch the bug.

Count your blessings you didn’t concuss your melon. Chicks dig face scars too. The bright side for your hand is for the most part if you broke a bone you would know it. There’s not a whole lot of ‘maybe’ when that happens in my experience and the only purpose of an x ray is to see how broken it is and how the fractures run. So hopefully that means you’ll be good and not have to go into the hospital.

The fall was almost surreal. I made an ill conceived move to get my bike going again, I tilted to the side, my foot reached or the ground, but right there was a hole, so it became a fall, arms flailing, then a (??) moment as I contact the pavement with 365 lbs, then that kinetic energy whipped my rather sizable head face first, eyes open right into the pavement, destroying my forehead, busting my nose which at once bleeded profusely, i roll over catching the blood with my fingers as best I can not to stain my coat going FUUUUUCK! as I pieced two and two together.
Bystanders arrived bearing a tissue roll for the blood, I spent some time on the ground giving myself a diagnostic and then, ungracefully, got back on my feet.
Cycled home, bleeding, cleaned the wounds with aftershave then wound sterilizer and, given how bad it was, decided to call my GP's assistant to see what we could get done without involving the hospital.
Once more i noticed i kinda have a high pain treshold. It can hurt a lot without me recoiling or getting noisy.

Did you see the flash on impact? I hate that ‘fuck this really happened’ thought you get while it’s happening. It’s been awhile since I busted my ass so I’m probably due for one.
Incidentally, it’s been awhile since I had an alcoholic beverage as well..

The fuck is wrong with you?

they tend to leech off me when someone temporarily feels strongly towards me arguments or even heated discussions activate them and the like if able to control them, would have made a business of it 10+ years ago
in particular, in this case, broke my arm in Montréal years ago on a commute it took me days to realize because the pain was no different than my constant bodywide pain but the hand was useless for tasks -- which took me a bit to pick up on because it was my left and not my dominant hand being used for things so a busted up (left) hand that may be broken but doesn't feel broken red flagged me after commenting to Asante the other day that urban biking in the Netherlands was an example of closer proximity risks of Covid exposure
my presumed 'source' of it is due to my blue eyes and the 'evil eye' tradition and used to butt heads with one of my Buddhism professors who ended up having strings of bad luck until picking up one of the suggested charms
prolly nothing actually supernatural about it and me just being a distracting witch who gets inside peoples heads causing inopportune distraction

They definitely recalibrate the focus. Sometimes I’ll run around and just lose overall focus and leave myself open for mistakes. A boot to the ass, however it may present itself, certainly resets the momentum of train of thought. Makes things real again.
Like when you watch Cops and the big drunk dude is like “fuck you, cops” and is ready to take on the world and then gets tasered and quiets right down. It’s humbling..

Very good point, i was loosing focus and getting silently irritable(while working on powertools) from the disturbance of one of my close relatives, at the end of the day that relative is the one who assited me towards the e.r. togther with my wife after she found me unconcious, Its quite humbling.

Edit: @tantrika ive remembered that convo of yah posting rural pictures of housing. got where your coming at, it Has a resemblance from our indegenous tribes, its called "nabati" when an hungry older fellow from fasting, suddenly focuses and greets a young specially becoming jolly with a child. Although unpurposely and not intended, that greeted young fellow/child suffers nausea, uneasiness, sometimes vomiting, lasting close to a week, unless kissed in the forehead by the oldfellow who gave the greetings..
@asante my left non dominant arm had undergone operation. But thats decade ago. During childhood days, from my experience incase of major fracture, I can't move a single finger because of it, followed by a fever after 2-3 days(and the pain). It went upto a month before i had a proper operation(financial), but i can imagine thats a no no for me specially in this older age.
Wishing yah well, its a struggle, specially in this times. Love speed man

Only Mormons wear bicycle helmets here
Not that it would have done me any good, I literally full force faceplanted the pavement, bruises on my forehead, nose and chin.
The parts protected by a bicycle helmet were not involved.

A helmet would at least protect your forehead if not your chin. Might be worth considering even if nobody else but the Mormons wear em.

Yeah I'd rather have a crooked finger operated on after the pandemic than go to the hospital NOW for any reason. Our mortality is 8+% and we're past the 12,500 cases mark like Italy was not too long ago.
The doctor was completely on board with that and was glad I met him facemask to facemask. Its serious.

Thank you all for your well wishes!
God Bless Anabolic Steroids, Ladies, Gentlemen & Assorted Riff-raff

the 5mg Metandienone has clearly kicked me into anabolism, adding healthy foods and whey protein, taking much rest, sleeping naturally for 9-10 hours awoken by painfully hard morning boners any sense of muscular weakness because of the staying indoors has completely disappated, a brisker mood and i can just tell that the bulk of all that tissue regenerative power is going to my wounds. The scabs on my forehead are already coming off, the swelling of my hand is reducing and mobility of hand and knee are improving.
I'm going to do 8 days of this turbo charged healing, then leave it to natural wound healing.
I'm so happy to have these steroids. Whenever I pulled or hurt something they come through for me, with minimal side effects.
I take it first thing in the morning ("breakfast of champions") at the natural testosterone peak to make it fall into my hormonal rhythm. Tokyo 2020 is cancelled, but my nuts are going to the Olympics I dosed it such that my androgen levels are comparable to a top level non-using athlete in his early 20s, so my tissue regenerative capacity is about the same.
Male testosterone equivalents per day are roughly 2-10mg, where 10 is a barbarian and 2 a librarian Average is 4mg. This early morning intervention puts me at around 8-12mg total. By contrast, juicing bodybuilders go for 75-200mg. I'm parking in the normal range of androgens so that I have above average anabolism but noting too wild or I'd gain kilos of muscle and have tons f side effects.
This train will keep on riding, failure is not an option

Glad you're feeling better. Maybe you can use it as more motivation to slim down. Lighter dudes fall less hard. This was a harsh realization I came to a few weeks ago when I had a syncope episode and smashed my head off some shit. Thus, I have been eating much better

Healthy eating is enforced by self isolation in the presence of a prep of nothing but healthy food
Yeah, the bigger they are the harder they fall certainly goes for obesity.
I'm still in a lot of pain now, but I think no bones are broken, or at least not in a way tht misaligns my finger, so it can heal naturally.
Naturally augmented with a pharmacological turbo boost of course, cause Asante stays Asante

Swelling in the hand is mostly gone now, the steroids are doing their legendary thing in patching me up in no time at all.
Still hurts plenty but, herts schmertz who cares at this point.
Not getting COVID > pain at this point.
Using an ayurvedic medicine with nothing but thai print on the label, gift of my Hindu friend who uses it with his ALS, on my knee. Lord knows whats in it but, it works
Looks like I'm getting off with a penalty kick, all banged up but no hospital after all.
Thank you, God of All Things, for merely banging me up good in a time of great need for mankind. I will take my wounding as symbolic for the wounding of the world and suffer it, my Lord.
I basically ate the pavement, I fell, my head whipped toward it, my nose was like 5 inchres from it when I had the thought "this is not good.". Later in the week a piece broke off a tooth, no doubt the aftermath of the slam. Fuck going to a dentist during COVID time. Fuck looking into COVID mouths is the dentists opinion exactly cause most of them closed shoppe.
THERES A WAR ON SOLDIER
I quit MXE right in time (november) to sober up to deal with this. "The world needs you" my Spirit Guide said, well no shit, glad my mind is sharp again.
Banged my head this hard and not even a headache let alone a concussion. Thank you pool bellyflops for preparing me.

Do you wear a helmet while biking? Hope you feel better and I'm glad it wasn't worse- ie you coulda been in the ER, and if you're worried about covid in the hospital, you do not want to visit the ER...

Nope, the Dutch, a biking nation, dont really wear bicycle helmets, except when going offroad.
And absolutely, the ER is the worst.

I dont wear one. I think it gives you a false sense of security. I have road over 13,000 miles this past 13 months & wreaked over a dozen times. Not saying I won't ever get my skull crushed. I agree. I should probably wear one but I choose not to.
I think I need surgery in my collar bone. It is not healing up evenly.

First day off steroids.
The 8 days have given me a turbo boost of healing, now to complete it on my own power to prevent it messing with my natural hormonal balance.

Yeah, pretty sure it does. Know any doctors in the area? I fucking hate hospital & with the whole Corona shit...
Plus I cannot afford to miss work due to surgery.
I have no pain in my shoulder and have full range of motion but did not heal up even
I will have to quit my job, get on medicare, have surgery, & miss 6-8 weeks of work.
Right now if I miss any work I will be homeless within days. I have already been homeless here, fuck that.

I'm in a pain mgmt clinic and we treat work comp patients, some self pay, but there is not OR here. Clinics are still open but getting a surgery now will be next to impossible especially with you being "stable". Good luck! The building we're in is up for sale and I'm sure it will sell as soon as this thing is over. It was updated in Feb online. This whole city will have a massive gentrification over the next 10-20 years. That small town shit is WAY over here.

The problem is your brain is a little more delicate than a bone- bones can heal, you cause damage to your brain it doesn't exactly heal. A helmet won't protect you from being crushed by a car- if you hit a rock and head-over and eat shit though it can help your dome.

I agree.
Goal is to avoid that, just, without a helmet.
