Sanitizing a monotub during Covid19 crisis

Hi all I've been stalking these forums for a long time, what a great resource! I've been watching mycelium colonise my rye bags for the last month. Now I need to get everything ready for the monotubs. this is my first time attempting to grow mushrooms.

The problem is I can't get rubbing Alcohol anywhere (I live in Melbourne, Australia), due to everyone's panic about the 'rona. is there anything else I could use to sanitise the tubs? can I use methylated spirits? I think I have an old bottle in the shed

First, wash the monotub out with warm soapy water. I wipe down the sides and bottom and lid. I also wipe down the outside. Dry it off with clean paper towels.

awesome thanks! what relieving info. everything else I have read seems so particular about sanitizing everything.
also, do you know if there is anything wrong with a spawn bag taking a couple of months to colonise? mine seems to be going so slow and I'm worried that this may be a problem?

Sorry, never used one, so I don't want to misinform, but I'm sure there's a lot of threads on this site you can check out!

It does seem like you should have more growth than that. Doesn't necessarily mean anything is wrong though more pics would be great.
You definitely want to break up your clumps of myc and shake/roll/massage your bags so your myc gets evenly distributed through the whole bag

Did you stick your needle all the way in before injecting? That's probably why your growth seems small, most of it is just unseen because it's in the middle. Most people squirt their needles right against the edge of their bag so they can see their growth right away.
