Polyfil or micropore tape for colonizing monotubs

Not sure if you follow mykotek on Instagram but he packs his polyfil super tight during colonizing and then loosens 2 perpendicular balls when fruiting. He says he likes to have oxygen in there when colonizing What do you guys prefer? I'm stuck between polyfil and micropore tape.

For me with a room temp of 68-75f and humidity of 30-40% right now, I packed them tight for colonization. Then it took a minute to figure out what works for my environment. For fruiting I have the upper holes with half a layer of polyfil (I cut it off a roll and peeled in half) and very loose, almost falling out. The bottom holes I have a single layer very loose. I’m also running a small desk fan on low in the same room directed at the ceiling for constant air circulation. This is what’s working for me. Your conditions may need different mods

I'll try it with that then. Your conditions are exactly the same as mine. I'm inattentive grow tent and have a 6" desk fan on low pulling air through the tent and out. I'll only put it on for fruiting.

Try mp at least. 2 layers bottom, 1 on top, no wondering.
Poly will get in the fruits, that's why I switched.
-------------------- But if you're in a hurry, and really got to go If you're in a hurry, might have to find out slow That it's one thing to try and another to fly You get there quicker just a step at a time It's one thing to bark, another to bite The show ain't over till you pack up at night

If you have mp def give it a go. I will probably switch over at some point. Im using poly because I have it on hand. I have yet to try mp yet so am only giving my experience. Good luck OP! And update if you can!

Personally, when Im doing regular 6 hole monotubs, I put duct tape over the holes while the tub is colonizing. Once its done Ill put polyfil in and adjust the tightness of it depending on the conditions in the tub.

I've always wondered if someone gets those and think they got some old man pubes in their boomers 😂
On point to what the op was asking. MP tape is awesome. Love it. 2 layers bottom holes. 1 on top

Both work. Poly fil is messy. It’s about preference. Personally I’ll do anything not to use poly fil ever again.
Also using high co2 like stuffing tight or using tape is an outdated method and more of a myth. Put directly into fruiting conditions at spawning.

I need to try micropore tape. I have never. I like to use poly wrapped in pantyhose. I also use the Pinky's aquarium filters. Like this https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/24427720#24427720

Thsts what I was looking for. I didnt know if it was necessary or not. So do you use MP tape then? If so what size holes do you run and how many layers of tape?
