PF Tek Gone Slightly Wrong

Hi all,
Hypothetically if one was to add verm and brf together then add water, instead of verm then water then brf, would one still expect successful mycelium growth or would this increase the possibility of contams or other issues?

I suppose if you've already inoculated you may as well just roll with it and hope for the best.
If you haven't and you have enough ingredients, may be best to just start again.

"What you are trying to do is coat the moist vermiculite in the brown rice flour."
This is from evilmushroom666's pf tek. I think it's possible for the brf to get too claggy if it isn't done this way, which I believe can be detrimental to efficient mycelium growth.

I use to add the verm and brf and then the water... worked fine for me

In most cooking recipes, you mix the dry ingredients first
One might be more preferred over the other but it’s no reason to start your grow over

You can't argue with those results.

That’s good to know.
Looks like the start of possible contam in some jars but temps have also reached up to 28oc which would potentially cause bacterial growth too

I have only ever done dry mix add water. Like Faht said it is just the way most people do things when cooking.
I also like to use fine vermiculite so this might have a benefit to performing a dry mix and then add water. I also like to do in it this way because it allows me to water up the substrate mix slowly and it allows me to reach field capacity with out over wetting the mix.

The order you mixed your ingredients shouldn’t have an effect on contamination. You just want to mix everything thoroughly so the sub is even throughout with water and nutrition.
Why is it so warm? My excellent math brings that to 82F (real temp 😀)which is pretty high. Room temp is pretty nice for cubes.
