looks too fluffy/dense to be cobweb but I'm not sure it looks super healthy either

Some more pictures, I noticed a lot of condensation on the cake so I changed my setup a bit. I'm very concerned about that black spot, not sure what it is. After closer looks I'm definitely seeing metabolites so it's more than likely fighting some kind of infection. I just don't know if I need to ditch the whole cake.

Curiosity got the better of me, I cut off that black spot with a sterile instrument and whatever it is it's solid and flat. Almost like a piece of glass or plastic.

Oh thank fsm, that would suck to have to ditch Bertha... I think she got a little too moist so I flipped the lid and set it a bit ajar to increase fae. Also adjusted my humidifiers so it should dry up a bit and hopefully help it fight off the infection causing the metabolites.

Progress, the tub I spread out is really rhizomorphic but no pinning yet, and Bertha also isn't pinning yet. Humidity has been an issue lately and I'm considering relocating the tubs to a smaller area. Currently rh is at about 71,I figure I will give it a couple more days of fanning/misting and see what happens.

Actually, Bertha is pinning. Look at your tub (top left in the image) and look closer at those little white dots. That's primadora.

I'm seeing so much Arial myc I decided to remove a couple poly fil plugs to get better fae. I'm thinking low fae even with fanning is my issue on slow fruiting.

Added 8qt perlite to the tub, will post pic later. I had 91% humidity in the tub prior to the perlite and 76% rh in the room. Weather is definitely killing me on rh, but with two humidifiers running and closing off the room it's in I'm not sure what else to do.

Humidifiers seem a bit overkill unless you're in the desert. As long as RH is higher inside the tub than out, the sub should still be evaporating which is the purpose of FEA. Honestly running the humidifiers might be hampering things, since the higher humidity in the room slows down evaporation. What temperature is everything?

Here's some good reading that I just double checked to make sure I wasn't talking out of my ass, you might be familiar with it already but couldn't hurt to get a refresher

So I had no pinning that my novice eyes could see before I added the perlite. And now well....

Interesting that it's mostly pinning on the sides. Can't wait to see how she fruits in full flush.

Progress, Bertha is coming along well. I added perlite to both tubs but in the process I broke the sub of one of them. I'm assuming that's why the other one isnt fruiting yet. Humidity in both is about 99,temp is hovering at 70-73,light is on a 12hr schedule and I removed the poly fill from about 3 of the holes on each.

Bertha is still growing slowly, no progress on the tub that I spread out. Both are at the same humidity and temp, no contaminations. I'm assuming when the sub split it shocked the whole tub so it's hopefully just been slowed down.

Yeah, I'm getting stubby fruit so I read that low co2 can cause that. As a result I plugged up the polyfil holes again. The veils broke so that's why I pulled the rest of them. I'm keeping the humidity in the tubs at 98-99% and between 68-74°, typically at 71. Perfect temp control is a bit of a challenge at the moment. I'm really hoping my next flush gives me bigger fruits.

The mckennaii is a real cool picture too but that Mexican Dutch is just awesome. It’s large but perfectly proportioned and picked right on time.

Looks like spores, was there another mushroom over that spot??

Looks like they’re working out well but normally with perlite tubs you want just enough foil to keep the cake off the perlite.

Maybe try trimming down the ones taking longer.

I’ve never really been into cakes but I see people say using more perlite than normal can help a lot also.

Anyway congrats on the shrooms man, they look good.
