Pressure Cooker ran dry
    #26564507 - 03/29/20 04:34 AM (3 years, 9 months ago)

So I was Pc’ing some rye grain in 4 1quart mason jars and I filled the water up above the rack that comes with the pressure cooker and up to the bottom of the jars and when they got done sterilizing for 90 mins and cooled down I opened it up to see that the water in the PC was damn near all the way dry except for a little under the rack. Im wondering if this fucked it up and should I sterilise again or should they be good to go? The rocker was rocking the whole time and there was pressure in there all up until i turned the stove off and allowed it to cool down. Any input and advice is greatly appreciated. thank you all (:

Yours jars will be ok, and pc should probably be too. check it for any warping. You had the heat up too high if Your rocker is going constantly. You need to adjust the heat so it only jiggles now and again. If it’s rocking constantly it’s constantly letting out excess pressure and steam which means you losing water faster than you should.

You should be able to put in 2.5 - 3 quarts and only lose a quart or less during a cycle. I've done two cycles before without refilling any water.

Ran dry
Still has water
I think OP is really confused. Should read pressure cooker manual.
Also, everyone would call this nearly ran dry.
