Putting possibly bunk syringes to use

I have some likely bunk syringes that are thankfully getting replaced. I still want to try to get some use out of them without them wasting too much more of my time. I remember a passage from Stamets where he suggested putting spores in a spray bottle with water and soaking outdoor areas. Anyone had any luck with that or similar ?
FWIW, I'm around SE Texas and cubes grow in my area ( though have yet to find! )

What do you mean they’re “bunk?” Like that you inoculated jars and didn’t see any growth?
And I have not tried the spray bottle, since cubes don’t grow in the wild where I live.

Stamets is an idiot..put some on agar, you get get something, if so, do a few transfers to clean it up

Seconded. If they don't germinate on agar, they're fucked. But at least you won't have wasted a bunch of grain to learn that the hard way. MS to grain sucks anyway.
Edit: If you get some growth on the agar you could go LC and spray it around outside as an experiment once you know it's viable.

Indeed. Thanks to dumb Corona virus getting all petri dishes I need for agar is taking a while. I thought about trying just a straight honey LC but maybe a bad idea?
Transcending life: the vendor admitted he had other issues from old prints. Maybe 1 of the jars is showing barely something after nearly a month, but since I'm getting them replaced, I'm looking for ideas to try to get something out of them without all the work of cakes I guess? Open to ideas <3

Well, you’re in a good and bad place all at once, just like the rest of us. If it’s a print to syringe you made, let the spores chill for a bit in the syringe and try agar. Or, if you want to risk it, toss some spores into LC. Simple sugars aren’t recommended for LC, but if that’s what you got, roll with it.

Thanks TL. A lot of the LC teks I see are pretty old. Any recommended that can be done without petri dish gear?
I'll probably do this one since I have basically zero materials for agar yet:

If u have small jars like half pint, u could make a small batch of raw sugar LC and try that and hope for the best

If I combined cubes spores from 3 different regions of the world in one LC solution, all that would happen is the strongest would colonize and prevail, correct?

Yeah I'm reading things like snake venom are used to create actual hybrids. I'm thinking about saying f@#$ it and using 30cc of different varieties with my 1 gallon kombucha jar, water and Karo 😅
Should be 10 cups of water, 10 teaspoons of syrup 🤷♂️

Not from Multispore. Its going to be random genetics. Now, if you put a drop of spores on agar then did multiple transfers and try to isolate, you will get something more narrowed down. Hell, do one brf cake pf tek, and fruit it out and then clone a few mushrooms so you copy those genetics

Interesting. I may give it a go then
Back to the liquid culture, I started a few containers per the above method. It didn't appear I add any holes for air flow, just leave Tupperware top on- is that fine?

By bunk do you mean they don't germinate or are dirty? All the other noise is confusing. If they are germinating but have contamination that is what spore syringes do. They are fruited in open air environments. If they don't germinate you might have an age issue. You can spray them outdoors on some cowshit but I wouldn't hold your breath waiting for shrooms.

Yeah by bunk I mean not really germinating. After almost a month knocking up jars basically nothing.. so the vendor is sending me new ones and I'm trying to see if I can do something with them at all. Trying a few containers of LC based on the link I pasted above 🤷♂️
Spray bottle is still on the table for me too

If they don't germinate on cakes, you can try agar. But I imagine they are old and are done

Yeah I'm getting that agar is the thing to do, I'm just not getting the supplies I need in a timely manner because of covid. So in the spirit of still doing mushroom stuff with what I have, and trying not to waste, I made the post
