Hello Shroomery, Are there advantages in letting a PCer naturally release pressure over a quick release? Thank you.

Quick releases in pressure is hard on the jars imo. Your asking them to quickly vent pressure outta their filters and I'd worry about cracking them.

I agree and you might as well use the free energy to further keep your jars heated anyway.

yes things boil more when there is less barometric pressure, or PC pressure in this case. If you notice when boiling something on the stove, boiling increases if you turn on the exhaust fan above the stove.

Thank you for the knowledge, I appreciate all the responses. Natural release of pressure is the proper methodology when working with a PC.

You could try using a small fan on its lowest setting to blow cool air on the cooker to cool it down a little faster. Like stated above, you don't want to de-pressurize too rapidly.

Why not just PC at night, go to bed then inoculate the next day? Or do it early in the morning, go to work, come back and inoculate? As previously stated, taking off the toggle weight early is not a good idea. You’ll rush in air and create a vacuum in the PC sucking in contams through your GE filters, at best-case-scenario.
