P. Cubensis "Puerto Rican" fruiting as a PF cake
    #2656300 - 05/09/04 11:47 AM (13 years, 5 months ago)

I'm having some issues with my crop this round. Hopefully someone here can give me a hand. I'm getting abnormally small fruits from my cakes for some reason. They're all about 2" long with 1/4" wide stems, and dinky little caps. I've been maintaining 85% humidity and about 75F inside the container. I can't figure out what's wrong with these things. They don't seem to be as potent as they usually are either. HELP!!

Sorry to here about your vertically challenged little guys! Sometimes this just happens, but there are a couple of things you can do to help to ensure healthier fruits. First of all you dont have your humidity high enough. It needs to be at least 90%,but optimumly around 98%. Dont forget these guys are 90% water! Your temp sounds really good though! You should also fan out the co2 a couple of times a day also.----As far as your potency problems ,I can only suggest that you be sure and harvest before the caps open up all the way. Try and pick em' just after the veil breaks or even just before to get them at their peak. Best of Luck to Ya!

MYKEY

Oh Yeah,I almost forgot! Welcome to the Shroomery! Looking forward to hearing more from you!

Thanks for the insight. I've started to raise the humidity as I'm typing this. I've got the fanning part of the deal workin out pretty good. They get fanned 3 times a day. Sprayed twice for humidity and there's a fair amount of perlite in the bottom of the terrarium. I turned their heater back on so as to raise the humidity quicker. What causes these poor looking fruits? Does anyone here recommend dunking cakes to increase internal moisture for fruiting?
