My prime minister should be taken out the back and shot. When the only rational politician on my island country said close the borders, before it was ever here, he called her racist and said we'll always stay open because we need tourism. Stupid, naive, corrupt, woke, fuckhead. I am brimming with anger at the many thousands of people he sentenced to death with his pissant political triumph. Should be publicly flogged.
Rant over.
If you are referring to Pauline Hanson's xenophobic response against China, yes she was using covid-19 as an excuse to be racist and no her idea to close the border from Chinese tourists would not have protected us. Besides, we had already closed the border by the time she suggested it. You don't remember the mandatory 14 day quarantine that was enforced on anyone coming in from mainland China? https://www.canberratimes.com.au/story/6608997/aust-to-stop-foreign-travellers-from-china/?cs=14231
The majority of cases were brought into Australia by infected Australian citizens through a back route. Nearly half the cases were contracted in Europe and a quarter from the Americas https://www.health.gov.au/news/health-alerts/novel-coronavirus-2019-ncov-health-alert/coronavirus-covid-19-current-situation-and-case-numbers
A majority of those infected people being white middle class Aussies returning on cruise ships like the Ruby Princess https://www.bbc.com/news/world-australia-51999845 or as is the case in Melbourne, upper class whites returning from a ski holiday in Aspen https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-8158041/Hot-shot-businessman-linked-Melbourne-outbreak-coronavirus.html
While I do agree that ScoMo has not done anywhere near enough to protect the Australian populace, it has little to do with him being politically correct or "woke" and more to do with him not mandating quarantine for a bunch of Aussie citizens coming home after their holidays overseas.

How about you buy a CHEAP gun, get good supplies in your home to weather the storm and use any extra $$ wisely?
You can eat a bullet of course, but its not good for survival.
Get a big All American pressure cooker and jars and do a whole bunch of food canning runs.

My budget is probably like 600 for a nice shotgun. I'm saving everything else for now. Maybe some will go to making raised beds for the garden.

Savings in U$D might be a bad idea. The dollar will be losing value.
If you want to make the most of the economic stimulus you create with the money, spend it all on investments you want and need, like the shotty, the gardening supplies, foodstuffs etc.
Maybe even a bit of precious metals or cryptos if you do want to save.

That was what I was thinking about lately, used to co-own a 21 quart with my cousin but he lent it out and it didn't come back. Prices have gone way up since then but I found a place doing a sale. Might go with the 15 quart, cheapest/smallest one that can hold 7 quart jars. Between that and the 21 quart probably but I'm leaning towards the 15.

Yeah the Presto ones are a lot more affordable, maybe that makes more sense. Very different class of construction though I think.

Some friends and I have been talking about buying land out in the boons and starting a community.
I'm going to be putting money away for that. The dollar probably will lose value but realty prices will also fall dramatically I'm guessing.
I don't think crypto is a good method to store value as it's so volitial. Maybe as a small part of a diverse portfolio.
I'm guessing gold is good but I think basically everything other than some high demand things will drop in value.

They take time to bear fruit so if you're already concerned with food supplies now... yesterday is the time to get growing plants and birds.
Good laying hens will give you an egg a day and you can still eat the bird when they get stingy with the eggs.
You can feed a lot of your vegetable scraps to chickens or better... let the scraps rot and get some maggots going then feed the scraps and bugs to the chickens.
And if you're going to garden, you'll probably have rabbits which are easily trapped or shot with a pellet gun.
Also if you've got neighbors, encourage them to garden and get chicks also so as to keep them out of your patch if the foods really do become scarce.
Edit- typoz
Very good advice, home scale is so much better than the mass produced.
Thats what ive been practicing in the past 2 years after a major shift in my life, cant't solely rely on currency/income.
Go for quails & rabbit for smaller footprints. Interms of livestocks, dont cramp them together in small space, in an adequate shelter they give better quality & plenty of eggs than too cramped, eg. For chicks is 1 bird per 3-4 sqft min, quail is 1 per 1-2 sqrft. And living soil + deep bedding is a must interms of hygene. Spray the bedding with Lactic acid bacteria one in a while.
Chickens, soil, plants is near a closed loop system. interms of maggots specially bsf, they're easy to culture using bokashi waste & bucket with ramp, its dry & clean as they self harvest daily purging their guts in their last instar(phase) as they are getting ready to pupate.
Haven't bought any synth fert & ready made livestock feeds nor antibiotics for them.

Insects is free protien and chitin for the chicks - fish etc. fresh plants & root crops is for the probiotics for human & livestock.
Maggots frass & chicken bedding laced with manure goes to hot compost piles to age it for a month before using it for the garden soil for the wrigler worms.

If you're just using it for canning, a presto might do the trick for you. I've owned a 23 quart presto for a few years now, only ever had to replace the gasket. It works great.
I found a canadian website with all americans on sale though I think I'm going to splurge and buy the biggest one...41.5 quarts for mushroom growing That said a presto works great for mushroom growing too, but I want to go bigger plus the all american does bags better than a presto.
Anyways, estimates for 1 million cases?
3-4 days?

Thing is gold is not particularly cheap right now. Silver recently was about the cheapest it's been in about a decade but since went back up somewhat, good luck finding any at the official price during those brief dips.

Yeah canning and possibly some mushroom growing is the idea. I think probably the Presto makes the most sense for me budget wise.
I think the canadian site you found with the sale might be the same one I saw.
