6 Month old colonized grains

So, I quit cultivating in September of last year. I decided since I'm stuck in lockdown to start up again. About 12 days ago, I shot some MS solution into 9 old grain jars. so far only 2 are show any growth. I also prepared the last of my petri dishes. All those I used with my MS syringe contam'd hard with bacteria, and a few of the plates I was saving had a mix of bacterial and mold growth; guessing it was a mix of old agar and rusty technique.
Now, today I was trying to start preparing grains and agar stuff, and while gowing through my equipment, I found a jar I had either spawned or used in g2g that had several grains left inside covered in luscious white myc. Is this the key to solving my culture issues? I have literally dealt with zero contams in spawn but trying to work with agar, I always have tons contams.
So I guess what I'm asking is, has anyone had any experience using old mycelium? It would be amazing if I could skip all the agar work and go straight to spawn.

Jackpot!
Looks pretty healthy and people pull year old plates out of the fridge no problem so id say hydrate it and it’ll be good to go.
Once I found out you can clone dry mushrooms I’m convinced you can revive anything.

I tried it just once with some leftover grains like that from some spawned shoebox tubs and had my first run in with trich haha, but ya wont know less you try! Worst case it fails and you just keep going with the other options and lose 50 cents of grain or a couple cents of agar haha

Hell yeah!
Do you have any recommendations/teks for hydrating it?

I was planning to dedicate a few of my upcoming jars to g2g. Making plenty of jars, so it's not big deal if they don't work out. and considering my track record with agar, I'd say it's worth the risk, but I'd love to hear more of your thoughts on that.

I’ve never hydrated spawn but from what I’ve seen you just soak it in water for a couple hours.
I’d definitely do some agar too. Always good to have backups.

You will know if it’s contaminated or viable on agar, everything else is wasted energy most likely in this case.
