Planning for 1st Trip: strand; set & setting
    #26561779 - 03/27/20 06:20 PM (3 years, 9 months ago)

Hi,

I'm planning to take my first trip... don't know much about mushrooms, though I've gone on a 7 days trip to take Iboga before so I'm strong enough to handle mushrooms.

Questions

What strains should I take for my first trip? I'm able to access psilosybin Cubensis. would this be recommended?

How much to take for a light/safe first dose?

Set and setting recommended? I'm couped in my 400 feet apartment admist Coronavirus in a city that is now one of the most affected cities in the world. Not sure if now is a good time and/or I should be doing this from my apartment?

Thanks,

Strain doesn’t matter unless you have been suggested it is more potent then others. 3.5g is what I would recommend.
Just do whatever makes you comfortable.

3.5 is a bit much IMO.  I'd suggest 1.5-2 for a first time.

Anywhere from 2g to 3.5g should be fine, it depends a bit on body size and metabolism ime but there's other variables, any food in your stomach already, whether or not you make tea, etc. If you have any experience with psychedelics, 3.5 shouldn't be too much to worry about unless you get a strong bag but just buckle up and enjoy the ride. I'd definitely start at a minimum of 2 though.

Home is always a good place, though you might want to go outside and take a walk at some point if that's an option/you can handle yourself. If you're comfortable there that's all that matters. Set up some cool lights, good music/tv/movie. I like comedy specials personally but whatever floats your boat, just keep the mood light.

Keep some fruit on hand in case you get hungry. Oranges are great, I like the little cuties that you don't need a knife for. Very good texture in your hand and in your mouth.

Stay hydrated. Expect to laugh a lot. If you're into art maybe draw or paint. Just have fun with it.

It's probably fine. Even if it's not fine, it'll eventually be fine. So it's fine.

This is great info guys. Thank you very much.

On another note, when I was doing a 7 days retreat on Iboga, the environment was very ... serious for a lack of a better word. No TV, No electornics, just african music in a very shamanic space/setting.

From what I am getting here, I can/should be more casual about this? suggestions I see in here include putting on some music/tv/go out side for a stroll etc..

Is it a good idea to just sit still and meditate or just lie down / focused? Or are those too much of an overkill?

Thanks,

It's all up to you.  You will likely have 4-6 hours to work with depending on how you dose.  There's no one right way to do this.  Some pursue a meditation with a silent focus.  Others enjoy music, or nature.  Some just want to party.  Each approach has its benefits and drawbacks.  You can switch set and setting mid trip if it isn't working out for you.  Don't overthink it.

Some recommendations if interested...

-get a candle or two if possible and put them in your tripping area. its really nice to smell a great candle while your senses are on overdrive. also, seeing the flame  is such a primal thing that always resonates with me, as well as the lighting effect it can give a room as the flame dances around. if night tripping, i prefer low light settings which is basically just using the candles, or maybe one other low wattage/dim light

-build a playlist of music if you will be indoors for a good amount of time. i personally like classical music, or other things that are calm and soothing for the come up (first hour or so after eating). then as it starts to hit you stronger, play your favorite tunes or w/e you want to hear the most while tripping.

-if you have any artwork you really enjoy (vinyl covers, posters, crocheted linen, handmade artwork, pieces of nature like wood etc) get them out and decorate your main tripping area. have things available for eye candy.

-if you have any plants and greenery, do the same

-try to fast a little bit before the trip if possible, but have some liquids for while tripping and maybe a healthy meal ready to eat once you know you're done. mushroom munchies can be amazing at the end of a trip.

-consider cleaning your house/apartment before the trip. its a great way to think about things, and in a way meditate on the experience ahead. but also, it's nice to know you've put some respect into the mushrooms and also seeing your home clean and tidy while tripping is a nice feeling.

- if possible and comfortable, it's good to step outside and experience a new environment from time to time. keep things fresh for your senses and mind. but if youre surrounded by people outside, it maybe a good idea to hunker down inside especially with the conditions of everything going on.

hopefully this helps and potentially enhances your experience. i treat this stuff like a ritual and these are some of the preparations i always take if im tripping at home. you'll have a blast!

You get out of the mushrooms whatever you put in. So taking your setting very seriously can have wide ranging beneficial effects.,I won’t repeat the great suggestions on here, just my list of preparations: music playlist(s), blanket, water, candles, incense, cushions, plants, low mood lighting, and an empty peaceful clean house.

From what I am getting here, I can/should be more casual about this? suggestions I see in here include putting on some music/tv/go out side for a stroll etc..

Is it a good idea to just sit still and meditate or just lie down / focused? Or are those too much of an overkill?
