Yea please do link me. I wanna check him out, plus I've been looking for an actual blue poppy as all the others online turn out to be fakes but I know they do exist.

I'm also pretty certain that there are no blue varieties of Somniferum, although I could be wrong.
The genus Meconopsis are the only blue poppies that I know of. And one day, I'll get some seeds!

planning to grow some again this year. waiting for my friend to send my collection i had a pretty impressive portfolio a few years ago.
picked these up recently

according to this study its one of the most potent ornamental varieties. https://organicalbotanicals.com/wp-content/uploads/Study-of-Ornamental-Poppies_Flemish_Grape_Queens.pdf someone told me a time ago that the only cultivars worth scraping the pods if i remember are white and blue afghani varieties and the giant black one but theyre probably wrong

I also never heard that they couldn't be started indoors... and I guess these seeds didn't believe it either

those are in a mix of old depleted raised bed mix, composted cow shit and perlite. as long as your soil is rich but well draining poppies should do great in it.

Thanks for that Sac.. I just recieved a pack of Petes papaver from a great member here (Infinite) and threw a couple in some trays and a few on the ground(just couldnt wait till late Winter/early Spring) The ones in trays are already shootin up!! Were only going into Winter now-maybe not the best time Ive read-but our temps are very mild so Im hoping to still get something to grow along with you all. If not Ill just keep going till time comes right.....

Since it seems that poppies can be started indoors and transplanted with a gentle touch....
Do any of you sow/plant some more in the middle of or towards the end of summer?
I tried sowing more seeds all through out spring last year but none of them germinated, I assume because it was too warm outside. But if I'm able to germinate some seeds in a solo cup indoors and transplant them, then I'm thinking about planting more sometime around June/July-ish.
How do poppies do in hot weather? It's around 90 to 105 in my area most of the summer. Maybe young plants won't do well during the heat of summer?

When transplanting from a solo cup like those....Do you have any technique or certain way you go about it? Or is it done just like transplanting any other plant?
Do you do so when they are at a certain size/have a certain amount of leaves?

Looking good!
Nice foliage, big chunky leaves on those.
A few of mine are close to being that big.
I'll eventually get some pics posted lol.
