PE Monotub has mycballs but no sign of contamination

Hey everyone this is my first grow ever, PE Monotub and everything seemed to be going fine until these myc balls what I call them starting popping up in the substrate. I've done some research here and know that this is caused by stress from over moisture or contamination but I have yet to see any signs of contamination. I took someone's advice because I could clearly see there was too much moisture and wiped out as much moisture as safely as possible and let them sit over night. this is it today and the little brown pockets of moisture on them have started to dry up but was wondering if anyone with experience had suggestions based on how its looking, and if starting the fruiting today is a good idea?

PEs like casing layers otherwise they make blobby mutant shrooms. Haven't grown any yet myself, but that's the consensus in these parts. Substrate looks fine to fruit, typically less mutants on the 2nd flush with this variety, but you're good to go and the blobs are fine to harvest and consume when the time comes.

Yeah that’s normal for no casing.
They’re just blobs they’re pretty strong, when they’re ready they’ll start getting soft and usually pop off the sub clean.
I only did one tub with no casing to see what happened and it grew some pretty big blobs then second flush was shrooms.

Thanks guys I appreciate it! Great relief to hear it looks good since its my first go, and I started the fruiting today. so what your saying is line the tub with plastic before the substrate right? just so I know for my next tub. ill post some progress pics with the fruiting

Damn good to know because I have 5 tubs of PE right now and I did one with no casing to see the true effects, so thanks Aka I’ll keep an eye out for blobs the first flush

Blobitis. I even get it with a casing sometimes. One reason I don’t mess with PE much. For me it’s 50/50 fat flush or blobs

No that’s a liner.
PE needs at least 1/3 inch layer of peatmoss and verm mix, some people go up to an inch and half. Easiest way is to go find jiffy5050 mix at the store. It’s all premixed with the right ph and everything.
It’s safest to pasteurize it but I never do anymore, just use it right from the bag.

They’ll get soft and pop off real easy when they’re ready.
You got lucky with those blobs, sometimes the whole surface just gets covered in little bb sized ones that are impossible to harvest and just block pins from growing.
I always liked the speckled look.

Never grew PE but do you guys think that a pseudo casing (thin layer of coir and verm, same as substrate) on full colonization helps with this? Or would I need a real casing?

It might help some if you did it thick and patched it until it started knotting but real casing is definitely the best bet.
Get a little bag of jiffy5050 mix it works fine right from the bag.

That's awesome to know because a lot of them are still getting bigger each day, are these considered truffles? thanks for the knowledge along the way helps a lot! and I know this is probably just myc but I wanted to double check, some of the balls are completely covered in fuzz, research led me to myc fuzz but heres a pic cause why not

Using a casing layer reduces blobs.Quote:
