This looks like contamination by something, To me. Possibly mold? I was thinking of trying to save the mycelium by using it as spawn to coir in a mini mono or something like that.

Same jar yes. I dont think it is bc it is so different and has appeared in the last 4 days I think. However that is from the other inoculation point so I'm not 100% sure. First time growing too.

The best way to save the mycelium is to not spawn them.
That jar looks bacterial, but its possible if you just fruited it out of the jar you would get a fruit or two.
When unhealthy jars are spawned to bulk they usually contam because that little bit of stress was too much for them to handle and a mold takes over.

Bacterial mycelium looks more like ice cream than controlled growth.
And thats what I am seeing in the second jar.

now that i'm relooking at it, the second picture doesn't appear to have any visible hyphae. I would think it is bacteria.

Yes, no hyphae, just a big ball of white. None of the other jars have anything like that. All look like the first pic.

Idk man, looks alright to my eyes. The second pic does look a little thick or dense for what youd expect some myc to look like just starting out, but could just be some non-rhizo growth. But what do I know?
Either way, just let it keep going, keep an eye on it. What ever it is will identify itself soon, be it healthy mycelium, bacterial contam, or some other fungal species. Keep an eye out for any discoloration, particularly yellowing or greening. Right now its pretty low risk to keep it around and see what happens with it. Definitely throw the whole thing out if it starts turning green.

So what I did was that I extracted the healthy looking mycelium into a minimono of sorts, and the bacterial looking stuff I placed in the same jar after I realized from examining it that it must have been mycelium as well! I just didn't want to take any risks with this cake to spawn it into the same bulk as the other ones.
Check out these pics. It definitely smelled just like the other part of mycelium, like mushroom, but it had a sticky looking and smooth surface, with no hyphae. So it had grown quite a lot like the other side. I couldn't take pics of it cos I was in the middle of the transfer process. Anyways, what do you guys think? Is this common to have such different looking mycelium, and what does bacterial stuff look like then? I know what mold looks like, is bacterial growth yellow usually?

By the way, the verm you see on those pieces is from the dry verm layer, because I just tossed the whole piece into a bowl with all else I discarded.

Lol so. Both were mycelium to me... I guess I got here to late to argue the point. I think everyone was tripping because if the flash from the camera made it look like bacterium. I was gonna ask you to take another picture. Oh well. So much for that jar.
