How hot is too hot?
    #26560521 - 03/27/20 05:03 AM (3 years, 9 months ago)

Hey folks. I have some old half pint pf teks. Very old, maybe 6 months since inoculation. Just for the hell of it I'm going to crumble them in an aluminum tray.

My process will be as such:
Put cakes in a fresh ziploc, close it and crumble. All in SAB.
Meanwhile I'm pasteurizing the coco tray. I'd like to move the tray right from oven to SAB but I'm assuming 170 degrees is too hot for mycelium? Does anyone know what temperature is acceptable?

Coir doesn't need pasteurizing, but if you do cook it you do it by itself, before you mix in the spawn.

Thermal death is a thing.

I feel safe with temps at or below 90f.

First i gotta know: how do u have 6 month old jars that havent fruited invitro yet? :whattefuck2:

Mycelium should be kept at temps below 90F. The ideal temp for mycelium and fruiting is 75F to 80F.

Lol yeah I wasn't about to stick my cakes in the oven but good lookingout 👍

I use coir that previously grew cannabis. That's why I pasteurize

Probably because the jars are completely sealed, no fae or GE at all. A few of them tried fruiting, there was no space so I ended up with this round compact little checker piece looking thing lol.

Thanks for the info, I'll move the coco from the oven to the SAB and leave it for a few hours.
