The effects of tripping often
    #2655828 - 05/09/04 03:43 AM (19 years, 11 months ago)

Well I started my mushroom life a month ago when I put the yummiest piece of chocolate in my mouth. I have to say, I am hooked. I have done it 3 times since then, love every minute of it. Really makes me think clearly, and really does put things in perspective about life, etc.

Anyways, back to the subject...I was wondering what type of health effects would one go through if they were to trip on shrooms everyday or every other day...Not saying I would do this...But I figure I mine as well play the safe game and ask.

Decreased effects and appreciation of the mushroom's magic is pretty much the worst thing that will happen. But of course, there's some people that experience depression, insomnia, or other such effects after. For me, once a month is the perfect amount to fully appreciate the trip, and yet not long enough to forget the mushroom's teachings.

I tried eating mushrooms twice in one week, the second time I didn't feel anything whatsoever. Also, I'd have to agree with deff, you really don't appreciate it as much if you do it all the time.

what health effects? pimples from the chocolate.

dont trip too much man. i hunt shroomies and therefore have been down the "3 and 4 times a week" phase. it gets old quick. then it sucks that everyone has enlightening experiences and youve just got a little body buzz. thats when i turned to E to have fun while others trip. that was an even worse idea.

how much should you do them? if you can sit there and vividly know whatll happen when you take them, its probably too soon. you should not remember what to expect and be in for a treat when you take some.

Yeah, I love that sudden flashback, back-at-home, type feeling I get when I do mushrooms. It's like I never expect them to be near as good as they are, yet once they kick in the feeling brings on waves of past-trip memories, and I can't help but smile

holy shit i agree totally. most people brag about smoking tons of pot, but its cool that shroomers keep it real and say that its good once a month which is true. they are really draining, and anything more than once a week or even a month is hard to do (plus tolerence sucks :smirk:).  anything less than a month leaves you just where you started off before your last trip, and even if you wrote stuff down, you forget what the mushrooms taught you and that just sucks.

I think more than once a month can still be very rewarding especially in the summer, we need to make the most of the little bit of sun we get over here.

By having very different set and settings, brand new people, high or low doses it can still be great when used more often. In general I'd say at least a week apart.

When I was growing B+ last summer it seemed a waste not to eat the lovely fresh ones that kept arriving so prob exceeded this rule all summer. Didn't personally notice ANY health or other problems, just a great summer with great memories.

I agree with tragic. about 2 weeks ago i obtained 8 grams, so I took 2 grams, 2 days later 4 grams, and last weds. i obtained 1 oz, and took 3.5 grams. 3 trips within a week of eachother. Every time was an enlightening experience. I think the people that the mushroom only loses its effectiveness when you are doing it every day. Just like weed really. You smoke pot everyday, youre gonna get diminishing returns, but if you space it out, its cool. The bottom line is be responsible. Yes, it is tempting as HELL to dive into my stash, but allowing yourself to crave the mushroom for several days on end makes the experience better.

I smoke pot 2 or 3 times daily, i never get diminished results. However i tried mushrooms twice one week apart and the second trip, though i ate more, was much less astounding. :mushroom2:

I smoke pot every day, usually more than once, and the effects are so that I buzz for about an hour (just for an average session). If I dont smoke weed I get depressed, and I have to do insane amounts of gravity bongs and the like to feel anything like I used to. It's definitely slowed my thinking down too. BTW, I'm not trying to brag, just make a comparison... I don't really think that it's anything to brag about.

As for mushrooms... you have to realise that it's basically poison, and the more you do it, the worse for you.
I don't know any definite facts about effects on your health, but I have been told that extended usage (more than say, twice a week) will do potentially severe damage to your spinal cord, due to the stricnine found in (some?) species of mushies.
I have found that if you want to trip after you have come down, or even a day or two after, you need roughly double the dosage... I've always tried to limit mushroom use as much as possible though, multiple addictions suck.

Psilocybin a poison? What is your definition of a poison?

poi?son ( P ) Pronunciation Key (poizn)
n.
A substance that causes injury, illness, or death, especially by chemical means.
Something destructive or fatal.

I don't think psilocybin fits that definition.

VAKA -> Not addictive? Are you kidding me? Well I've seen some pretty serious shit happen when people don't have the mushrooms that they usually take every day. They can be extremely psychologically addictive, I bet a lot of people here know what it feels like to heavily crave a mushroom trip.

Psilocybin is poisonous, some people end up in hospital, or in a mental ward, from over doses, low tolerance or ignorance. Perhaps you can't classify it, scientificaly, as a poison, but that wasn't my point... it can have similar effects to a poison, ok? If you know what you're doing (like most people here, I'm sure), you can probably limit ill effects.

As for the stricnine/spinal cord thing.. like I said, just repeating what I've been told... glad that it isn't true though!!!

"Psilocybin is poisonous, some people end up in hospital, or in a mental ward, from over doses or low tolerance. It's never 100% safe!"

Nope. It's not poisonous. Some people wind up in hospitals from eating mushrooms that were not identified correctly. As for the mental ward, people with deep rooted mental problems take them at their own responsibility. People without these problems should have no worries.

Yea... It's just one of those things that sounds like it could be true. Should have asked the guy to back up his claims though.

As far as psilocybin's poisonous qualities, perhaps I was wrong, but I'm sure that magic mushrooms can contain other poisons in them - I personally know a guy that ate a large amount of mushrooms (don't know how many) and now just wanders around the streets muttering to himself, and that was from just one bad experience.

I've always thought that mushrooms are a safe drug though, as long as you know what you're doing - safe environment, people you trust etc.
