I expect tomorrow there will be a meeting where they're going to cram 50+ of us into a circle around one guy talking to tell us all to maintain social distancing and hygiene while working. Cuz the people in charge are just that stupid.
Our office is closing at midnight after the governor made it very clear this won't be tolerated unless you're keeping the lights on or the water running.
My dad works for the largest power company on this side of the country and they cut power back on for thousands of people who had been cut off for not paying the bill.

Lost my temp to hire job because of this virus. Been spending my time calling around and looking for a new job. I got a couple places that look promising but the pay sucks and im not going to earn enough to pay my bills.
Im hoping this stimulus check can keep me out of the red until i can find something that actually keeps me afloat.
With all the aid going out to workers temps seem to always get the short end of the stick. Always getting treated like lesser people or servants and we have zero leverage in our "assignments".
It feels like all this aid is superficial as fuck when we still have many people without work and without unemployment as an option because temp contracts that say temp to hire do not have to be if the company "changes their mind". Most recently i was temping at a UAW plant that was automating the job I was there to replace. There was not ever a temp to hire position but i was manipulated into taking the job thinking it could change my life.
Now conveniently the corona virus shut the plant down anyway and im losing money daily and i was already living paycheck to paycheck but because im a single man on his own nobody really gives a shit even though i worked very hard to build what I have in life against the odds of wasting most my life afraid to be on my own.
Just had to vent. I dont know what to do. This temp industry breaks down any sense of hope for humanity. Greed is far from shocking when youre a product called "cheap human labor" for sale to the highest bidder and disposable like a dixie cup.

I know! When I say to people if I could retire right now I would, they come back with "I'd get so bored. I NEED to work" etc...WTF? Been working since I was 12-13yo, technically/legally 17yo.

I would love to retire now! My job is great but if I didn't work I could literally just do whatever I wanted all the time. I would never get bored

I think we need to move to the countryside when all this is over

Stores here(suburban) are closed since friday, the Shelves are not stocked, and the supply is being diverted in the capital(urban) to the most afflicted and needy. Was glad to be apart of shroomery with that thread & its great contributors, being stickied on time to confirm my intuitions, ive shifted my usual rotational backyard planting regime into two weeks sow to harvest such as pachoi and mustards etc. My lady is very happy as she distributed our excess to near proximity neighbor doors, to extend their ready made supply's specially those with the vurnerable age.

This year old personal raise bed of mine needs groomin while in lockdown

Are you and Asante roommates flatmates?
If so that's pretty cool!
And for the most part, I'm hanging in there, with some mild grievances.
My roommate lost her job(hopefully temporarily), bugged out to a more rural area, and at the moment it's just me, working from home. My last physical contact with human beings was on Sunday. I'm currently on standby to help my friend who is sick with something else in case she needs something from the grocery store or medicine or whatever.
My nephews and my brother and SIL live like 5 minutes away and I would love nothing more than going over to hang out with them, but I would never forgive myself if I got anyone I love sick - especially my sweet 2 year old nephew who already is dealing with epilepsy(seizures can be triggered by fevers), or my immunocompromised dad(who's luckily finally taking this seriously and holed up upstate)
In some ways I am suddenly really missing my ex, just because it would be nice to have someone during this time. In other ways I feel like if we hadn't broken up over the winter, we probably would've killed ourselves or eachother through this whole ordeal

Have yet to take an esoteric substance to process all of this. I don't have it. I have finances so self quarantined as they call it. But this endless news cycle about it is driving me crazy.
No one knows, no one yet. But I think some in this world do. Endless fear, wars, pandemics, it really sucks.
Sending good vibes to you brah. Sorry, just had to laugh as a person is dying and texting. Don't take it personal I don't know you of course but the idiocy of it all. I choose to laugh. Think I might be dying brah. lol. Keep perspective on ones place in the universe. And I have posted it before but is keeping me sane.

No, I dont live with Asante. I have never even met him. We are both from the Netherlands though.
I just followed his Covid tread from the beginning and Asante inspired me to make timely preparations. So weeks before everybody starting panic hoarding, my household was already fully stocked (The "we" I referred to is my family of 4)

It's times like these I long for psychedelics and weed.
The mind wears thin as time passes waiting to work to literal death, or jump ship and try my best to float.
Work healthcare and get sick and burn every cent, or walk away and burn every cent to maintain.
My heart is heavy and my head is pounding.
Full circle. Real shit.

I think he means they PUT it back on for people who had been cut off, so a good thing.
We get absolutely fucked on our energy here, "Smart" Meter costing us £150 a month - stuck on prepay because they won't allow us to switch to credit, can't change company without paying a huge exit fee.

It was a matter of intelligence and taking rational, responsible measures to protect your family. Of course you were with it, having disagreed before on many things had nothing to do with it.
Having your home stocked up for your family and being well informed BEFORE hectic times give a peace valium cannot attain.
There's something inherently comforting in tipping a 50kg bag of quality basmati rice into a 80 liter foodgrade vat, at a time where everybody still pokes disrespectful fun at the Chinese for overreacting to a flu and laughs it off as inconsequential.
