What type of contam is this?

Hey guys. I’m just wondering what this is. I started noticing on my oats, before hydrating, a slightly bluish hue after The two jars had their contams. Could this have started from keeping Oats too long? (Bag has been opened but tied shut for about a month and a half.)

That could be trich but it looks like blue mold. Get rid of that jar asap

Numerous contaminants in that jar. Contamination comes only from contaminants. not time or water. Only contamination causes more contamination. It got in during inoculation or from the inoculum or if you made your lids wrong.

Thanks guys. Had to be the inoculation. I did about 35 jars so far with the flow hood and 2 of these turned out blue and one just had a funky dry appearance so I set them aside to toss them. I was just curious because I came across trich with my agar and just thought most molds were green.

Probably didn't see trich in your agar Aspergillus maybe.
I would revisit the FH and see what's happening there. Do a unincoulated dish test.

Actually I was debating cloning from this. The clean part. The issue. This virus is screwing up my Petri dish supplier. I’m just debating getting glass ones.

My success rate was about 90% all in all. I know I totally did some stoned nonsense and reached outside my area a couple of times to grab this, or that. So my technique definitely needs to improve.

We have all been there. I usually drink while doing agar work. Personally I wouldn't open that dish inside. Based on the few pictures you have posted. I would bet you have a broken pipe in your walls of your house. Get a dehumidifier asap.
That much green means you got other problems going on. Have you been getting a tingling feeling in your arms or legs? Any hair loss lately? Things to think about.

I read somewhere to place a cup full of distilled water into the incubator to prevent the agar from drying out. Both the jar and the dish were in there. I’m thinking they may have caused this since the inside jar to the incubator has a lot of moisture build up. I took the cup of water out in hopes of dropping the humidity inside.

Don't heat up your plates above room temp and don't just leave open water containers around your living space.
