adding nutrients to make Coir SPAWN

I'm just thinking out loud here so don't flame me but I've been thinking about the fact that coir, verm, gypsum don't seem to contaminate on their own therefore the contamination comes from the spawn. If the spawn is the contamination source could there be another type of spawn than grains that could be used which doesn't not contaminate easily. I figured if coir itself could be used as a spawn then contamination rates would be low but coir doesn't seem to have much of any nutritional value and the shredded coir tends to be clumpy making it more difficult to for mycelium to move through it. What if the chunky coir was used but when prepping the coir a nutrient solution was used in the water for prep. Seems this would add nutritional value and chunky coir would have the spacing that shredded coir wouldn't. What are some reasons that this might not work? If it's worth an experiment then what sort of nutrient balance/formula would be ideal for mushrooms?

If you add nutrients then it will be open to contamination.
Properly hydrated coir is not difficult for mycelium to grow through.
There's no magic bullet here.
Experiment away and you may discover something novel. Personally, I don't think mycelium would thrive from a hydroponic setup as it is adapted to spawn on solid nutritious material.

The biggest issue is that cubes like starches and carbs. So do contaminates, hence the race condition when growing. They'll eat other stuff, but carbs offer the most bang for the buck in terms of actually cultivating them. Grains are ideal since the carbs are in a nice little protective coating (in most teks) that allows for more even distribution and slightly less chance of contamination vs just straight exposure of the nutrients. It'd be cool if there were a viable nutrient source that wasn't also preferred by competing organisms, but nature's cruel that way. Neat thought experiment though.

this, also bulk doesn't make the best spawn, the best part about grain to bulk is the drop in nutrition that gives great leap off and colonizing times. If you want to fight contams you just need to up your game with good technique which consists of a tote with armholes a lighter and a spray bottle

It doesn't matter what i think of you...all that matters is clean spawn I'm tired do me a favor

Same thing as a pf cake used as spawn. You could mix coir and brf or bran together sterilize. Inoculate and use it like spawn. Might work might not but I don't see what it solves or makes easier.

It’s like a paradox. The coir is resistant because there’s not much in there. As soon as you add in some kind of nutrient, the contams will show up to fight for it. I don’t think there’s anyway around the problem you just have to control what gets to eat.
