At least the mycelium wore lipstick when it f*cked me

It seems like I have a bad case of lipstick mold (Sporendonema purpurescens). I will definitely pitch this batch unless anyone knows a way to combat the contamination.
Here's what happened...
I'm very new to mycology and wanted to take the easiest path possible, so I bought a bag of grains and a bag of substrate. Once the grains were colonized, I mixed it into the bag of substrate and sealed it up except for the filter patch on the bag. This is where I think I made my mistake. I used the bag instead of going with a monotub. There was a video showing how to grow everything inside the bag, so I followed what they did. The mycelium start to show but stalled out. after waiting over a week I decided to dump it all into a monotub. There was a sour smell when opening the bag, but no visible signs of contamination. I have a feeling the grains started to fermentate and that was the sour smell. Because of the uncertainty, I isolated the tub away from everything. After a few days, it started growing either fuzzy mycelium or mold. I waited a little longer and now it is red. Sorry for the blurry photos, they are taken through the tub and I do not want to open it until I dump it outside.
The lesson I learned from this is to do all the sterilization myself. It seems like the contamination came from the substrate. I couldn't find much information about lipstick mold. Does anyone know what the likely cause of it would have been?

Contamination comes from bad spawn You don't combat contamination when it appears you combat it before it does by preventing it. Once you have it you toss.
This is the 50/50 chance you take shooting spore syringes into grain Premade grain adds another 50/50 chance. So maybe 25% chances of success using spores directly to grain that's pre-sterilized

I have learned that lesson the hardway too, its always best to do as much as ifnot all the process yourself. so you can personally control the outcome, might take a little bit of learning but in the end it will save you alot of projects.
much love ! best of luck with your future projects

That makes a lot of sense. thanks. Definitely going to toss it.
I finally bought a pressure cooker so my success rate should increase in the future.
