Help!! Are my cakes contaminated??? 1

Hey guys, been a while since I made a post. Got out of the game for a little bit, but decided to start some grows again. This is my first time with of cakes. I purchased a kit from midwest grow kits and started the lazy way and it already had pre-sterilized jars. I normally do my own jars and mono tubs, but wanted to try this.
I have been fruiting for about 10 days. The one with the big white blobs all the sudden this afternoon when I get off work, had a bunch of from what it looks like blue all over it. It doesn't look green, but then again it might be. Is that contaminated??? I really need to know so I can take it out if it is and hopefully it doesn't mess up the other ones.
I did dunk each cake for 24 hours after they were finished after inoculation. They gave me a air filter so I was using it, but decided to turn it off because I have a lot of water on the sides. humidity is definitely over 95% at all times and temperature ranges between 68 degrees at minimum and 73 degrees at most.

I cant just say from looking - but that looks like you have Penicillium growing on your cakes.
Thus, yes, sorry m8.
Mycelium is very tubey and veiny. It can be grey if thin, and puffy under circumstances - but it wont look like a mushroom when puffy, will be kinda transparent.

I just smelled every cake and none of it smells bad or anything. It all smells like mushrooms like normal. And they are still growing in other cakes. I'm just going to see what it does and keep it going. I did not waste all this time for nothing. If it does happen, I would just eat what I have LOL

Holy Blobs Batman!!
Thats some serious blobbing going on. No its not an infection, its a genetic defect of some strains of Cubenis. The proper name is Mutants. Most are actually pretty potent so thats pretty cool for ya.
How long did you consolidate your cakes for before birthing?

The company that sold me the jars said it take around four or five weeks. Those took 7 weeks, maybe even 8 weeks.

The ones with the mutants are the ones that are turning the blue.

So what would be the explanation of the blue cakes with these mutants on them?

Mutant genetics would be my explaination. Try a different vendor for PE syringes next time. Should help. (no need to name the vendor, kept that private).
Ive noticed with my grows if I dont consolidate them correctly, i will get blobs. Its only happened once to me with Africa Transkei.
They look like the right moisture levels right now.

Yeah I had some good mono tub grows my first time around. I was growing golden teachers and b+. Theses are new and I just followed the instructions that the kit gave me. Lol. I cant wait to see what I get. it does seem like these cakes are bigger than a lot of people's cakes that I see normally.

Looks like half pint regular mouth jars. They are taller but the wide mouth half pints are wider and the same volume.

The bluing is because the blobs sucked all the water out of them. Dry the blobs... they’re potent as hell. Dunk the cakes from 12-24 hours after they’re done flushing and refruit.
Might want to clone the regular fruits if possible.

Question, do you guys use dehydrators? That's what I use last time to dry mine out. I have one where I can set the temperature to what I want. If you do use one, what do you set it to?

Highest setting... magic in mushies don’t break down until like 300+F. Forget the actual number
Edit: you can break the blobs apart into thinner strips to dry faster in the dehydrator.. breaking open that outer skin really speeds things up with drying.. you make it thin enough (especially at the very base of the stem that connects to the sub), you can get away with 8-12 hours drying to completely dry them. Otherwise 24 hours is recommended

sounds good. So you can actually break these things up? LOL I wonder what they look like inside. I need to go do it because I just put three of them on the dehydrator LOL. My dehydrator only goes up to 158 and I put it on 140.
