I do wrong I do right Sing my songs Even in plight Mycelial growth Mycelium fights In the Petri A pin’s in sight
What should I do What should I give To make sure This baby does live Do I do What I’ve just done what is hard But can be fun Even though it is a pain Do I do transfers Again and again?

Let it grow for a couple more days and clone it. Strong fruitier, those petri pins are.

How comes it make the fruit stronger?

Cuz it's able to fruit despite imperfect conditions, like a petri dish.

Fair enough.
Would it be best to slice it it half lengthwise, and then slice the halves up and transfer them to separate dishes?

Probably better to clone the whole pin and do transfers later.

No is the simplest answer. The more you touch it the more you increase the contamination rate. Flames some tweezers pluck and out in a new dish.

It will come right off the agar with ease and some tweezers.

I Have Two more Petri dishes pinning now

Also I got to the other one too late with all the covid-19 happening and my kids needing attention. I cut it in half and noticed a few minutes ago that the cap half (last pic) has made a spore print on agar. Is that an issue?

Yes because now instead of a clone you will grow a MS culture.

Most likely the pin will revert to myc and the clone culture will outrun the germinating spores. Just take a transfer from the growth that occurs near the base rather than the cap.

Just take the pin off the plate and throw the whole thing on a new plate. It WILL revert back and you’ll have a full fruiting culture. New theory’s say that that isolate strains aren’t always the best and it’s best to have a small variety, and that mushroom is so small you could make a really solid clone culture from it. Leave the agar that it’s on alone and just transfer the whole pin or the cap half of it to a new plate. Don’t make all this harder than it really is.
